Merlino is like Carmine Persico,he will be the boss until the end.
“Boss” of what? Philadelphia is a crew of the Genovese family. The only viable LCN families in the US left are Genovese, Gambinos, Chicago, maybe the Lucchese. The bonnanos and the Colombos sound like glorified street gangs at this point (luccheses as well to some extent). Philadelphia is a corner store operation. So what is this weird little clown the “boss” of exactly?
That are bullshits! All the 5 families are active and out NY the only big and active family is the Philly familiy while the Outfit have less active members. Merlino fought against a boss and survived to many attempts to whack him and made 15 years in prison so that is more respect the average mobster.
Hebis not a clown because in this time the mob is not the same of 30 years ago.
You must be related to this Merlino goof or something. He had his “front” boss rat on him. That’s how much respect he holds. Philly had more rats than a manhattan sewer system. That family gets no respect. As someone else mentioned above, the Gambinos have operations there, totally separate from the Philadelphia “family”. They bow down to NYC
Chicago has way more juice & soldiers than Philly. The Jessica Nesbitt brothel indictment alone shows that they still have enough manpower and juice to shakedown a massive brothel operation that was generating millions, and anyone who read the fine print in the Cassano-Galione indictment can obviously see that Chicago are very active. They have more going on than the Colombos, that is for sure, and probably more than the luccheses as well. The bonnanos are a glorified ghetto street gang operation at this point. They got punked out by some bikers at that funeral or whatever it was, and they had the entire ruling panel flip, for fucks sake.
The difference between Chicago and the rest of the east coast groups is Chicago guys aren’t on tape blabbing incessantly about ‘the Life’. They still talk in heavy code and shun the media. Philadelphia has their alleged boss doing some lame cringe podcast, I mean come on haha. In that Cassano-Galione case, you couldn’t get them one single time outright mentioning organized crime or mafia or outfit on wiretap. Everything was extremely heavily coded, like in the old days
As for Merlino, he’s a goof. Watch ten minutes of his dog shit podcast, if you can stomach it. If this was the 80s he’d be dead ten times over by now
