For Philly I’d say Caramandi and Leonetti were pretty credible. Neither of them appeared to make outlandish allegations like a lot of the other rats. I know they both got book deal, but even the books seemed realistic in my mind. They lived through some of the craziest times in Philly and were involved in a lot of activity. Both come off as genuine to me.

How about Fratianno?

In Sicily I can think of Francesco Siino and Dr. Melchiorre Allegra, but there were others.
the first in Sicily was Salvatore D'Amico (killed in 1878)

Frank Bompensiero of the Dragna crime family who was based in San Diego.

If the irish mob counts towards this discussion then how about Buddy Mclean the founder of the Winter Hill Gang in Boston?

Rocco Scafidi started cooperating between 1963 and 1964 in Philly.
The first archive is from 1964, but I believe his involvement started in 1963

I've got a very limited understanding of FBI files and all that but it seems to me that he was source "TP 22-C", IDing several members and discussing individuals who LE thought were connected to the mob:

Nice find. Though Paul had been out of the rackets for some time, following his conviction on narcotics charges, he definitely had the intel on the makeup of the organization in the 30s and 40.

I would guarantee the choice to furnish information to law enforcement came after his brother Joe was killed in Nov 1953, by the Trafficantes.
Thank you. In Cigar City City Mafia, he's listed as a bolita rackets figure and Ignazio's son - would you be able to clarify if he was a made member?

Some sources list him as an associate while others say he was a soldier
It's extremely difficult to say who was 'made' in Tampa pre-1960s. even then, there are gaps. My best guess would be yes, due to the fact his Dad was the boss and him and his brother were so tightly involved in the mob-run narcotics operations with the Kansas City family. However, he also retired from everything after his brother was killed and lived out his life legit. I've spoken with one of his sons, and the other Paul Jr was a long-time Hillsborough state attorney then private practice. Both of whom had nothignwhatsoever to do with OC.
Thanks for the info, I had always wondered about his membership status.
