I listened to a few of those. Terrible.

For example, Frank says, he partied a little before going to prison so he can get a drug rehab in prison so he can get less time. As if it was some plan he devised on his own.

Yeah but if they did anything even more guys would end up in Supermax.
I believe Kurt more then I believe Junior. But then again I have a hard time believing Kurt on some things. For example, if you are so scared of the guy, why not just put the money in the bank like he asked? Kurt said how if he got pulled over it would be his responsibility. OK, so that excuse sounded like bullshit. And Frank saying that was "everybody's money" sounded like bullshit too.

Yea total fanboy. Shows up at a lot of the local spots and tries to record, eavesdrop and than uses it for his channel. Btw, His last name isn’t cosenza. That’s his mom’s maiden name which he uses to sound more Italian.

I thought it was really good. Great to hear a different perspective on Frank Jr.

all that aside i just finished john hagedorns insane chicago way and was impressed with book. i wont go into details as it has been discussed but it really shed light on how chicago functions at a street level from the outfit to gangs, cops, politicians the whole machine. i also have been working up some charts from 1992 and on. thus far these are text only charts for i am no computer design guy, very black and white.

anyway wanted to say hey. have a good night all, chat soon.
I don't come around as often as I used to, but glad to see you here and welcome to the group.

SonnyC wrote: Thu May 22, 2025 9:38 am The guy in the back with the white hat on is my uncle, Frank Barrata. He was close with Accardo and Ricca, but probably closer with Ricca. I was told by Dominic Volpe something to the effect of "he was definitely in". Strangely enough Volpe told me he was a member of the "council", which the existence of I thought was nonsense at the time (late '90s), but has obviously been proven true. Was he really sitting on it? I doubt it.
This was Frank “Blackie” Baratta, who died in 1984? If so, makes sense that he would have been closer to Ricca, as he was from Taylor St (grew up by Bishop and Polk).
Interesting you know the name. It's not one you hear discussed. I know there is another picture out there with him, Chuck Nicoletti, and another guy but the photo is not mine.
I don’t know much about him apart from his family background (Taylor St Calabrian from the province of Cosenza) and that he was a longtime member of IBEW Local 9 (electrical workers). He worked for the Metropolitan Sanitary District, which back in the day was a heavily mobbed-up institution and an important sector for patronage jobs. A lot of Italians worked for the Sanitary District, of course, and it was the kind of job where you had to know someone.

Blackie Baratta’s sister Angeline was the wife of Cook County Circuit Court judge Pasquale “Buck” Sorrentino, who I’ve mentioned before, as he was a well-known buddy of Freddie Roti. Buck Sorrentino’s sister Rose was, in turn, married to Taylor St mob associate and gambling figure Mickey DiGiovanni (these DiGiovannis were Calabrian and unrelated to the Sicilian DiGiovanni/DeJohn family), whose sister Clara was the wife of suspected Chicago LCN member Giovanni “Big John” Cimitile. Cimitile was, of course, a longtime close personal friend of Paul Ricca. Once you start looking into any of these mob-connected families, you start seeing glimpses into these webs of connections from the “old neighborhood”.

Serious question......

If in fact they have been involved with the Outfit after their fathers passing, were they recently working for Sarno in the 2000s?

Is Joey borsellino the one with the kid who was a football player?

I recall that interview with Lewis years ago where he whined and cried about his precious lake house and various other luxuries getting taken away from him. He cried on camera about this
Lewis was a trader who had a great business going at one point - someone conned him out of it. It was interesting them and Boscarino brothers being so close at one point - both sets of brothers had their fathers killed by the Outfit. Both sets of brothers then continue to hang on the fringe and do business with these people. Never ceases to amaze me.

Borsellino's kids grew up with my mothers family. They went to school together at Montini.

She always said they were respectful to her & her friends so to each their own. Take it for what it is considering she's a female and we probably know why they came across that way. Nothing materialized though and once high school was over they lost touch.
