gamms never came across as a bullshitter. Then again it's an internet forum. What do I know?

Always hated the tree-style. Can't believe some forums (non-OC) still use it.

Yeah some of us have been around for along time I started in about 2007 but as for the street talk... The old timers of these boards know who may have a little inside knowledge and others who are just straight bullshitters.

What sets you aside from even other people who casually share rumors on here is that you have also asked many questions over the years. You are a student on here and I've never seen you act like a know-it-all or become indignant when someone doesn't take your word as a fact. Other people, even ones who otherwise carry themselves well, do become indignant and act like know-it-alls which always raises red flags for me.

These are largely research and gossip forums. I've never understood why someone would want to come to a place filled with outsiders, some of whom loathe these gangsters, and gossip about their supposed friends, neighbors, and even family members. Of course some "insiders" come here and defend these guys, but even these defenders share alleged inside knowledge that paints these guys as mafia members. Even if everything they say is true, I find their motivations strange, but that's me.

Anyway, I don't think it's a problem if you or anyone wants to drop street rumors or disagree with other people's info, whatever you want. People have their own reasons for doing things. What bothers me is these fanboys who seem to wait in the wings for Gangland and other reports that "confirm" what their favorite poster said (or loosely implied) months ago. This is where the arguments start in my opinion. And to those fanboys -- many of whom are decent guys when they're not pulling this shit -- I have to ask why it's so important that you champion these people? Why can't you just say to yourself, "My secret source was right," and keep it in your head. It seems purposely argumentative to do otherwise. To make it worse, you will often disagree with info from the government and even cooperating witnesses if it doesn't fit the narrative supplied by your "secret source", and that's one of the big reasons people like Pogo and Wiseguy are skeptical even when info DOES match what your "source" said.

It is healthy to doubt people, especially on the Internet where people can claim anything. I've said my piece.

When I remember the insulting, fighting and banning about that precise question back in the day, I'm happy that we can even debate about this...Like Prop Joe said "For a cold ass crew of gangsters, y'all carried it out like republicans and shit".

I didn't mean to put you into that specific category Charlie. You are right you have never made such outlandish claims or claimed to be connected like some we have seen on the forums. I guess I'm just expressing a general frustration with people on the forums being so quick to believe whatever someone on the internet says. Even after so many of these people have been outed as frauds or their claims proven wrong people are still quick to take what people claim on the forums as the gospel. Like I said it gets frustrating after 17 years.

Pogo, honestly I always enjoyed your posts but the fact that you are saying "the inner working of a given crime family", it is inaccurate; we are talking about a street crew, everybody in the neighborhood can know who's the "boss of the neighborhood"

I was referring more to this gamms or whoever that was talking about things that happened at a high level Genovese sit down and other people who talk about high level stuff that they can't possibly know about.

For the record, I don't ask anyone to believe me. Like wiseguy said the FBI has intel and surveillance that allows them to know things, and I do believe they are right most of the time.

It is funny to be categorized with people that have made outlandish claims like the fucking rockford family has 200 made guys or whatever...
Now what is hearing things? Nothing mysterious. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe D jr...The neighborhood talks, which is what I sometimes relay. In that case, Joe D jr is a rather unknown figure in these forums...I will leave it at there was a rumor that would normally prevent him from being made, aside from the fact that nobody likes him.
It is a fact (from where I stand and I don't ask anybody to believe me) that his crew went to someone else when he was still in the can. Now I don't say he is not a capo, I say he doesn't head that crew anymore. Nothing more, nothing less.

I never claimed to be in the know, to have relatives in the mob, to be something I am not. There are a few people in here that know my name and family.
Pogo, honestly I always enjoyed your posts but the fact that you are saying "the inner working of a given crime family", it is inaccurate; we are talking about a street crew, everybody in the neighborhood can know who's the "boss of the neighborhood"

"Why are they blabbing such intimate knowledge to people who are not involved" : because mobsters talk all the time, brag, shoot the shit, have relatives that are friends...Nothing so mysterious about that. This secretive, secret society bullshit is good for Hollywood.

The Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau was named in the press release.

If you can't figure out the bullshitters from the people that are genuinely trying to tell you something they believe to be true than so be it. I don't care one way or the other but the way you two dismiss it is off putting and condescending.
For the record, I don't consider any of those posters to be bullshitters. I'm just continually surprised (though I shouldn't be at this point) that people on these forums will give them the benefit of the doubt over Capeci. I'm often willing to take what these guys day at face value, which is a compliment considering how wary I am of the phonies that have always plagued these forums, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give them more weight than Capeci, much less the government. I don't know if anyone can locate the actual indictment but it would be interesting to see if Denti is identified as a captain in it. If so, case closed. Discussion over.
Attorney General press release doesn't even mention The Genovese Family, the Mob or even Organized Crime in the Press Release. Which is very odd since they JUMP at the chance to say they arrested a mob figure. Even if they are just an associate they would mention it in a PR releases. And they simply don't. The girlfriend was arrested in 2015 with 4 other guys for fraud as well. So it looks like one of them co-operated to snare Dente Jr a year later.

It is very easy for anyone to come on here and claim they "hear things" but what does "hearing things" even mean? Hearing what and from who? Who are these people hearing things? Who are these people telling them this? What exactly were their words? How exactly do the people saying this know the things they are saying? What is their position in LCN that gives them such intimate knowledge of the inner working of a given crime family? And why are they blabbing such intimate knowledge to people who are not involved?

Like I said anyone can come on here and claim they "hear things". We have had people claiming that they "heard" Paulie Stripes DeMarco was the Genovese Boss, that Nick Corozzo was the Boss of the Gambinos, that the New Orleans, Rockford, San Francisco and Denver families are still alive and kicking, that Joe Wing and Charles Frankian were top Outfit guy's (despite being dead for 10 years), that
John Giangrande was the Gnovese Boss, that Joseph “Shorty” LaMantia was the Chicago UnderBoss (despite not even being made and being dead), that Tommy Gioeli was not the Acting Boss, that Barney Bellomo was almost retired when he was the freaking Boss, and a thousand other claims that were later proven to be bullshit. Where does it end? How many times does this stuff have to be proven wrong before everyone stops being so quick to swallow it hook, line and sinker?

My only opinion and then I don't want to post about it again is I find it short sighted to Automatically dismiss anything in life. It's your own prerogative of what you believe. And the under handed comments if you don't agree are childish. I believe Charlie. My prerogative.
Sure, a lot of things are "possible." But...no underhanded comments here...I've always been upfront and honest with those who are so quick to believe Internet sources over a proven mob journalist like Capeci or even the feds. All things considered I think doesn't make much sense and I've always wondered if it's partly because people like the idea of believing they have their own inside sources right on the forums. Yes, "people talk," but are these people on the forums better informed than a guy like Capeci or the FBI? Again, I'm usually happy to take what they say at face value. However, if they contradict what a guy like Capeci says, or the feds even more so, I'm going to have to go with the latter. And you know what? After nearly 10 years on these forums, that's put me on the correct side of things 99% of the time. For example, while I give as much weight to what PB says as anyone on these forums, it wasn't too long ago that he was saying Bellomo was almost 100% legit and had pulled back a lot after his wife's death. Then we find out from Capeci, citing both law enforcement and underworld sources, that he's now the boss of the Genovese family.
