I’m glad that you and others have enjoyed it

Carew’s testimony brings me further and further away from the narrative surrounding this period

See now that he passed away in 2020. Did he stay a captain for a long time?
He took over his father’s crew, according to Carew but it was short lived as eventually, he was banished to Florida
why banished?
He claimed that Bobby Amuso and Christie Tick wanted Joseph martineli to receive a beating. This claim was false and he was also shelved over a few other things that were not mentioned

Does anyone know the Joey "toye" that John Pennisi referred who was Dominic Truscello 's crew than transfered to Joe Cafe's and then back.

He appealed a decision to deny him parole during 2014 which resulted in him suddenly being released on compassionate grounds due to his age and medical conditions.

The DOJ agreed to change his PSI in order to mention that he didn’t kill Galante but also wrote in separate document that they don’t want him to be released since it doesn’t change the fact that he participated in other murders which can be corroborated by Casso,Carew and D’Arco

Casso was newly made and some new members did get promoted quickly around 76-77 but I could see the crew being split or reporting to Furnari directly for a time.

1977 would make sense for his stepping up to consigliere. It was reported during that period that induction ceremonies were delayed due to Foceri's failing health. A new official consigliere doesn't always immediately follow the last one stepping down (the Colombo's didn't have an official consigliere between 1959 and 1964) but that is around the time a transition was happening. If I remember right, Corallo might not have become official boss until later too as a CI reported that Tramunti was still boss a ways into his incarceration.
I’ve read that when Furnari became the Consigliere, he only had Casso reporting to him.
Amuso became the Captain of Furnari’s crew after he became Consigliere and it seems that Jumbo took over the crew for a short while after Amuso became the boss

The 19th Hole was eventually merged with the Bensonhurst crew if I remember correctly

They closed the books from 1957 until the mid 70s unless it was a special thing you know like –

*then he was cut of before he could finish what he could say*
Wonder what "special" cases he would've brought up.

1977 or 1980 it’s all basically the same timeframe. When guys are recalling events that happened 25, 30 years previous everything becomes plus or minus 5 years at least.

I think the other guys are right and Furnari became a captain much earlier than 1977. I'd bet Carew is mixing up when Furnari became Consigliere in the late 70's as Vinny Beans was on his way out and that's when Carew couldn't drive for him anymore.
I think you're right Scootch...pretty sure I read before Furnari became consigliere around '77...
