Agro is a mystery but very interesting indeed. I also wish we had more info on Paul Prince and Frank Russo.

The Armone crew going back to the Riccobono-Biondo days was headquartered in Lower Manhattan and they typically met at DeRobertis. Other guys in the crew like Joe Gallo and the Rumores ended up in Queens but the crew still spent a lot of time in Lower Manhattan so I imagine Agro spent a lot of time there regardless of where he was from/lived.

As I posted above, at least based on the info I found, he was not from Manhattan. He was born and raised in BK and later in life had addresses in QU (Maspeth and Flushing). Obviously, that doesn’t at all preclude him from spending a lot of time in another boro.

A guy doesn’t necessarily have to become affiliated via a circle of guys from his home neighborhood of course. Given that his wife seems to have been from Manhattan, he may have been moving in those circles when he got back from the Army.

Agro was sponsored by Joe Armone in 1977. While Armone was originally from Manhattan he later he moved to Brooklyn. It’s my understanding that the Joe Armone crew originated from the old Dongarra crew, and Dongarra, though living on Elizabeth St as a kid after arriving from Sicily, lived in Brooklyn when he was a captain (8th Ave and 54th St in Sunset Park, IIRC). We’re talking about crossing the East River here anyway, not the Atlantic lol. Millions of people do it every day.
