anyone in that family with any type of association to springfield seems to be far below the level of smarts that most of the organization operates with. i'm blown away that people still try and collect insurance money through arson these days, much less someone with known mob connections, as if the fire isn't going to be looked at as anything other than arson right from the start of the investigation! ;)

A reputed mob bookmaker and associate of the Genovese crime family with Springfield ties pleaded guilty in federal court to burning down his own restaurant for $190,000 in insurance money.

John A. Barile, 52, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on Friday to arson, insurance fraud, gambling and extortion offenses.
