He asked about the surname. And there is no such name Guilmette in Italian.
Guilmette is French-Canadian. Kinda reminds me of New England associate Gerard Ouimette's surname.
Gerard Ouimette was respected by made guys as if he were made...he had the clout kinda like Joe Watts did...
I know I was just pointing out the similar surnames.
I apologize...I didn't mean to sidetrack the post

Agreed. There’s plenty of pictures available of him and heavy weights from all across the nation.
Supposedly he was a close friend of John Sr...nonetheless he was a stand up guy

Franco-American and Quebecois-American gangsters are interesting. There aren't that many of them. Bugs Moran (real name Adelard Cunin, mother was French-Canadian and father was French-from-France French) is probably the most famous I can think of off the top of my head. Also there's Norman Dupont, Gotti's little helper guy, who had a French surname at least.

Scott had Guglielmetti as underboss until GoLocalProv reported on the Guimette case where they cited Rhode Island Stare Police having him as a captain. In a followup article GoLocalProv called him the underboss though. Both articles I'll link below.

Following the first GoLocalProv article Tim White and his collegues reported on Rhode Island's House Speaker's Chief of Staff's dealings with a mob associate and a marijuana shop. In the article they give Lato the underboss title citing RISP and say he was recently promoted to the position.

I believe that it was posted on the other site that his mother is Italian. Billy Angelesco has the same situation, Italian mother. His father's last name is Russell but he uses his mother's last name.

Never heard of him but maybe one of his parents is Italian ? I'm not sure if having his 2 parents of Italian ascent is still a strict rules for the nowadays, but to be honest I really don't know.

That said, I once read that Scott Burstein turned Montreal gangster Gaëtan Gosselin into Gaetano Gosselino, so maybe he just misspelled the name?
If you are italian on father side no problem but if is italian on mother side,I doubt that can be made.
