"You ain’t gonna be a baseball player or a basketball player. First of all, you got to be a good liar, a good lowlife, and an imbecile. Take a lot of drugs. You gotta take steroids. You must take steroids. And anybody that takes steroids is a garbage pail." - John Gotti in prison after his grandson told him he wanted to be a pro baseball player.

Better with the real audio if that's still online. "You gotta take steroids. You MUST take steroids."
And Sammy was roided up and just got done flipping on Gotti…

That's a good one. I'm also a big fan of Scarfo's "Sports are for jerkoffs."

Yeah working out makes every aspect of life better. Only problem is if you take a week off it feels like the world is falling apart. But it's also great to take a break every once in a while because starting up again feels great and you notice the difference immediately.

Lifting weights or running on phenibut is wild. You feel like the world is yours. I haven't touched it in quite a while though because like you said it's absolutely a drug and I don't think people understand how intense the "high" can be and how strangely it comes on. For those wondering, it's not a workout supplement but a nootropic "mood enhancer". You feel extremely focused and outgoing on it yet weirdly dead inside.

You actually have to work harder and focus on your sleep, recovery, hydration and nutrition more once you get “on”. I only ever started after I was training for 15 years and was getting into powerlifting competitions. I don’t do them anymore so I’m off all gear. Doing anabolics just for the sake of doing them is stupid.
Right you still have tear up the muscles so your body knows to grow more and still force down chicken breasts or whatever so your body has something to turn into the new muscle. But if you're on steroids the "beginner gains" just keep going instead of stopping after 6~24 months.

I won't be doing them at all as I don't want to get huge. Hell if a guy like me got huge it would just look like I had something to prove. My goal is a very modest "not fat and not pathetic".

(I've gone from 30% body fat to 19.5% so I'm definitely killing it with the "not fat" part at least.)

I'm looking at my "before" pictures I took to track my progress and can't believe I let myself get that bad. And the actual training feels so good and makes me feel so much better even on rest days I feel like an idiot for not starting when I was 13 three decades ago. But back then I was too busy with Nintendo and Magic: The Gathering. :|

Here's a fun clip of a kid being extremely honest about the reality of steroid use among competitive bodybuilders: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DXQQZdyh5qE

ANYWAY back to the topic…..
Again, I won’t ever doubt Scott, I like a lot of his stuff. The steroid market is small and a niche/fringe underground community. I couldn’t imagine the profits being worth them getting into it let alone if any 50 year old greaser tried to sell me a bottle of test I’d assume it was just grape seed oil

Stopflexing wrote: Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:44 am Ivan since you’re new to training you are most likely experiencing beginner gains, don’t give creatine all the praise.
I already factored that in haha -- the difference between before creatine and after creatine was like overnight and I also started taking creatine only after about four months into actually lifting. The beginner gains were already apparent well before the creatine and even any lifting, back when I was just trying to blast away 25 pounds of body fat (i.e., extremely rapid muscle growth in my arms just from working out to lose fat on an aerobic rowing-bike thing before starting any lifting whatsoever -- that was freakish ).

What I got from creatine was not an increase in strength or muscle mass per se, but a huge overnight increase in stamina for both resistance training exercises and cardio. It didn't make me "stronger" in terms of the size of dumbbells I could pick up. That stayed constant in spite of the creatine.

From what I understand one of the main benefits of anabolic steroids is to give you beginner gains after natural beginner gains have ended.

Antiliar wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 12:43 am What brand of creatine do you use? How much?
This stuff. 5 grams a day. Capsules.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9HWN8S9

Have you been using it or are you looking to start? (Don't expect to get the kind of results I described above; from what I understand I'm at the far right of the bell curve.)
Thinking of starting.
Might as well, the only downside is that it makes your face puffy and round, but only while you take it. But I seriously went from being able to do 15 pushups to being able to do 25 basically overnight without changing anything except taking creatine. (And yes, I know that 15 is kinda pathetic -- that's why I was trying to fix it by working out.)

The brand name "bulk supplements" sounds cheap but it's actually high-quality stuff that is well-regarded by people who are knowledgeable of such things. Nootropics Depot though is probably the supplement brand with absolute best reputation; sadly they only have creatine powder but you can't go wrong with them for quality.

Another fun supplement that really works is Tongkat Ali (it legit makes your testosterone levels go up a couple hundred points). I get mine from Nootropics Depot.

And then there are the somewhat-dangerous substances phenibut and kratom, which sort of cross the line from just being "supplements" and are closer to "drugs". But they do work as advertised; they're just not kid stuff.

I’ve been working out in gyms throughout multiple different states for the last seventeen years and never once was “approached”. “If it came down to it, couldn’t fight”, lol. You’d think these comments were by a bunch of fifteen year olds.

antimafia wrote: Fri Jun 02, 2023 10:28 am Creatine is legal, very safe, and extremely effective (especially for newbies).
It didn't make me stronger per se in the sense of being able to pick up heavier weights than usual, but performance increase in terms of endurance blew my mind. It increased the number of repetitions I could do of various resistance training exercises by about 50% without me doing anything else (i.e., the creatine alone did it, apparently). Same deal with cardio (big cardio fan, do 10 hours a week usually) -- allowed me to last much much longer on the treadmill. Happened fast, too; the "roughly 50% improvement" kicked in after doing a loading phase for I think a week it was.

From what I understand this is a pretty extreme outlier response and for most people it's more like "a couple extra reps" than "50%." Bear in mind that I was an almost total newbie.

Only thing I don't like about it is how it makes my face get all round and puffy, looks ridiculous. But I'll stick with it for this first year at least as I beat my body into a fairly fit shape.
