Of course you could complain of razor burn, sensitive skin etc at medical and they would give you a "no shave profile." So, yeah, you can get your way. But fellow soldiers like myself at the time viewed as a weak move. And viewed as lazy and selfish. If you are in a combat zone, shaving is still required, but the rules were lazed. It depends on your command. Similar to Pennisi who said joe cafe was a stickler for that rule. Eerily similar to the command structure and how the rules are enforced military vis a vis the mob.
