Les Kruse was another interesting individual who together with his father started under national gambling and wire operators (mostly Jewish) from the 1920s and 30s.

When Outfit capo Rocco Fischetti fell into huge gambling debts, it was Kruse who took care of Fischettis debts and allegedly took over his operations around the Southwest and North sides. In plane words, Fischetti was still one of the "official" capos of the South Side group, while Kruse was the "unofficial" boss of Rocco's crew and had the last word on the day-to-day ops.

The French-Canadian businessman Armand Courville was Vic Cotroni’s mentor. Were it not for Courville, Cotroni might not have ever turned out the way he did.

Willie Obront, the Canadian Jewish “financier,” was very important to the Cotroni-Violi group.

Certainly was a cash cow for the mob, it depends how deep you want to go with it. Certainly was a influence in the gambling scene.

I would also add the Jewish members of the Mayfield Road Gang...would you agree?
that's a interesting question , if you add the Jews you might as well add the irish fellows as well. since they were partners with the mayfield road gang are they considered associates or partners
I would agree....Shondor Birns would also be included as an influential associate

Would you consider Joe Perfette an influential associate? He dominated gambling in the 90's in Warren for Peanuts, Loose and Papalardo to keep the 25% coming into Cleveland.
Interesting - I knew Joe when I was working in Niles, Ohio. My understanding was that his main responsibility was the heavy book making in Niles.
He oversaw it, collected Cleveland's "Kick-Up", then dropped it off at the Sunrise Inn. There Charlie made sure Tony Delsanter got Cleveland's end.
Tony DelSanter was dead by 1977...Joe's power came after that, worked closely with Jack Licavoli, then Peanuts Tronolone and Loose & Papalardo. Joe was a big bookmaker prior to that. People also knew him as the sausage king, he and his cousin Joe made homemade sausage
I can only speak of when I was working in Niles which was prior to Tony's death. So it makes sense that Joe came into power then.
He and his son made sausage on the bottom of South Ave. in Youngstown and their sausage was a big seller at the Canfield Fair :)
