Philadelphia 1994- 2003 was very interesting. Lot of people were whacked.

Prohibition Chicago because it's insane
Disco era like you mentioned (Murder Machine)
Early 90s Philadelphia because it's like a cross between a Tarantino movie and a Three Stooges short
Lmao yeah the early 90’s Philly had some wild characters. Can never forget the time when two Stanfa oldfellas got their asses beat trying to kill John Veasey. It still amazes me how John was conscious, let alone alive, after the headshots.

For sure. Definitely can't argue with that - but that was 20-25 years ago. I'm talking about the modern day Instagram era South Philly group. The Mazzone brother who got swept up, even Dom Grande, the Wagner guys, etc. - I know the whole M.O. of social media in general is to only see the good, fun stuff - nobody wants to see someone working or struggling lol - but these guys always just look like they are out and about without a care in the world. How the fuck are they earning money? Maybe I'm kind of answering my own question with mentioning how 'popular' they are, and there's a lot of people in the wings, biz owners, etc, who want to be a part of it all and are kicking up to all of them.

2010s-present Philly. Interesting in that we still don’t know how so many high profile guys are really able to earn. Lots of chiefs. Seemingly no construction or union infiltration. Different factions. In a way, it’s almost like some guys are holding on to the life for local clout and to play a part. Would also be interested in knowing more about their Boston crew.
lol I always wondered this too. I could be wrong but what I suspect is that a lot of guys inherited the homes they own in south philly and have virtually no housing / living expenses. Still have tons of blood family and 'support' in the neighborhood. On top of that, with them constantly being out and about, I suspect a lot of stuff they get is 'on the arm' - free drinks, meals, people buying them shit all the time. They are like a grown up insular neighborhood version of the popular kids in high school. So, I always suspected it was stuff like this combined with them loaning out money to eachother and other associates and neighborhood people, and possibly some guys just living modestly off of old score money. Guys who had family in LCN which some of these philly guys seem to have, could have inherited cash from their Dad's too - earned during a time when making money in that life was a lot easier and more plentiful. From the outside looking in, the modern Philly guys especially the ones IN South Philly give off this air of entitlement where they are charging people money to be able to hang out with them, and they crowbar their way into any situation with money and just eat through it . They don't seem like a "making money" bunch as much as they seem like a "taking money" bunch

I know there are a couple Philly guys or sons of old Philly stalwarts that are into local real estate, run successful businesses, etc - what I am talking about above I would apply more to the "instagram crew" and the guys who are always seemingly just hanging out drinking and tap dancing in the mummers parade

I do think it's kind of cool how many white / italian people have decided to stay in South Philly proper going on generations now. I've been to Philly a lot and I'm not used to wide open spaces myself coming from NY, but something about those extremely small row houses and those narrow, treeless streets, seems very claustrophobic to me

90s-early 2000 bonnanos. Obvious reasons.

Mid 90s Genovese. Chin’s schtick. Barney’s rise. Javitz center. Ralphie’s disappearance.

70s-80s Rochester. Still think a better book or movie should be made about the wars.

Always been fascinated by both the LaRocca and Genovese eras of the Pittsburgh borgata. Really interesting stuff.

I have no interest whatsoever in the mafia pre-1970.

Another interesting era I also love to read is about the second conflict between Chicago Outfit and the their Northside accomplices which occurred during the 1940s, and also regarding the conflict between Ricca and Accardo from the early 1950's and the look of the top administration from that same period.

-For Italy

Cosa Nostra 1955-1981. The vegetables markets war, the creation of the Cupola, the first Mafia War, the rebuild of the Cupola... However I don't care about Riina and his pals that's why my interest stop here in 1981.

Regarding the Camorra mid-70s-1985 because of the influence of Cosa Nostra and the war with the NCO.

'ndrangheta History from the 60s to the early 90s is also fascinating.

-And as I'm very interested by drug trafficking (French & Pizza Connection, Canada, Australia) I'd say the mid-40s-mid-80s for that
All of the above. But especially the 70s onward. Currently, they are in the process of rejuvenating the operations and command structures from 50 years ago...

NYC - Donnie Brasco, 3 Capo Murder, Pizza Connection Castellano hit, Commission Case, Gotti
Philadelphia - Bruno/Testa Murders, Riccobene War, Scarfo
NE - Angiulo Bust, Renegade Faction War, Medford Induction Recording
Chicago - Strawman Case, Spilotro Killings, Operation Greylord/Gambit
Cleveland - Lonardo Testimony
