The 1960s Gambino thread got me thinking about the D'Alessio brothers. They inherited their uncle, Alex Di Brizzi's, waterfront rackets and were powerhouses on Staten Island. I always thought John D'Alessio was a captain with the brothers in his crew, but I see him listed as a solider.
I've seen FBI reports and the like on MF and in an old New Yorker article (link below) of his involvement in meetings with high level mobsters which always suggested a more prominent rank.
Several mobsters have been linked as coming up under them, most notably Tommy Bilotti.
If not an independent crew, whose crew were they in and does anyone have more in-depth info on them?
