DR delivers the goods! Thanks man. So he was just trying to explain the differences between the Gambino / Colombo Families and recent history haha. I was hoping for some new gem about the DiBellas but glad to know what he actually said.

As for Falanga not being made, not sure if there was a specific reason but it happens. Whitey Danzo is another guy like that: he was on record directly with Genovese captain Frank Celano, his kids were baptized by Sonny Franzese, his daughter married Sal Profaci Jr., and he was close to Sam DeCavalcante. Shows we can't always assume membership based on relationships alone.

its not like the colombo's are that discerning in who they make compared to Genovese, Gambino, Luchese etc

i remember reading about this in a book like 20 yrs ago. they made this vinnie sell his house, he had no food etc. Horrible story. Rapacious as shit

These defense lawyers are really smart in my opinion. their contrived questions are quite clever and they can also speak extemporaneously- very quick on their feet.

This is an article from the nytimes were the judge and others in the courtroom can be heard laughing at his frequent use of those terms
“ 'But 'ba da beem bah.' was that different from 'da boom boom boom?' ''
I actually think that was very smart using that language. It doesn't really make sense but if your in life and you need me to spell out for you what that means your probably a rat and asking too many questions. Unfortunately, he said too much otherwise.

Thanks for sharing, MightyDR. Definitely more funny than informative. I especially like the "da boom boom boom" part. 😂

Frank Falanga 1981 wiretap?

In late 1981, the FBI bugged Colombo associate Frank Falanga telling associate Vincent DiPenta the "history of the Colombo Family". Falanga wasn't made but he was an old timer very close to Tom DiBella, so I'm curious what this consisted of.

It could have been as simple as "Carmine Persico just took over for DiBella, who took over after Joe Colombo" but wondering if there was anything deeper. We know when DiBella was elected boss in the 1970s that members were told his father had been an earlier boss of the Family.

Anyone come across the actual substance of this conversation or the transcript?
