The son was acting for his father. Petey Red had many ailments in the last few years of his life (diabetes, heart issues, etc.).

At the time of this surveillance photo, they were under Allie Shades.

Selling pills is nothing new for the Genovese. They've been doing it way before the opiate epidemic became a mainstream talking point. They have been heavily involved since the 1990s. I doubt Bellomo gives a fuck because he's nowhere near it.

That area has basically become an extension of Chinatown. Lot of those streets east of Chatham square all Chinese now.

I've been in Knick village to help an old lady w groceries while i was running on FDR and took a detour through the projects to see if Is could see anyone in the club as door was open. they must question why this guy in running clothes, pouring sweat always walks by and stares in lol.Anyway, that place is fucking horrible. cannot imagine successful wiseguys living there now or even in the 80s. It looks like inside of Soundview.
To be fair, KV is a bit run down but it’s not that bad and it isn’t the PJs. It’s a long way from Soundview; believe me, I used to live in Soundview.

The wiseguys who lived there were neighborhood guys and I’m sure stayed because it was a comfortable and familiar environment for them.

they are worlds away from guys from WestSide- who is in their crew?
It's the crew now run by John Brescio (captain) and Carmine Polito (acting captain). Formerly run by Ross Gangi, Sammy Aparo, and Peter DiChiara. Traditionally an enterprising and money-making crew, Albanese and Russo aside.

I guess the youth movement was not in full swing at the moment.

Russo and Albanese showing the downside of being made men and reputed members of a crime family here. They got really really unlucky with this.

Very hard to believe there were wires up and running on them and they were being investigated. I'm guessing the younger Staten Island guys were, and Russo & Albanese got caught up on their wires. It doesn't sound like the oxycodone scripts were fraudulently obtained. As 77 year old men, they probably do meet some of the legit criteria on paper for getting a script. 1 script each, per month, for 8 months? No real volume here, no pill mill, no crooked doctor, no conspiracy to obtain multiple scripts each month. The fact that the doctor wasn't named leads me to believe it was a legit, regular doctor. This is a case of diversion, not a grand organized crime drug trafficking conspiracy.

No mention either that the 2 of them had anything to do with the "adderall, suboxone, klonopin" part of the business either. They're definitely not giving prescriptions of Adderall to people in their 70s and I'd bet money these two guys don't even know what it is. Maybe at best they were just getting money kicked up to them by those younger Staten Island guys if there was some sort of associate type of relationship there.

If this were any other 77 year old living off of SSI, handing over their little script to someone each month for some extra cash, I wonder what the punishment for that would be. Because that's a pretty common thing, and we basically never hear about anyone like that getting caught. Russo and Albanese being who they are is what fucked them over here.

I think you would have to prove he knew about them selling drugs then any good defense lawyer would put turncoats on the stand to say selling drugs is against mafia rules. Can't get him

you have to prove he's "boss." right now it's just conjecture.

Unbelievable when you think about it given inner city murder up ticks & crypto Ponzi schemes. Today’s mob barely breaks the law outside taxes. Obviously you still need to monitor them but I think it’s time for another major major reduction in LE resources .

this investigation probably ran 10+ deep, multiple $ millions in cost, massive wire taps for a few grandpa’s selling their prescription (very common for old folks ) that end up on probation.
Couldn't agree more. What a disgrace. Backman Fried still walking the streets, murder rate at record highs. And the feds chasing two 70 yr olds for selling their scripts. Wiretaps, surveillance, year long investigation.

Disgrace.
