Charged recently. Salzano, Grabato, Scutaro and O'Brien. SEC complaint and criminal action against Salzano. $600MM ponzi scheme. Salzano has other issues. His kid was one of the contractors. I don't know what the New Jersey and Philadelphia connection were, outside of what I've read about them dealing with McFillin (some of that on this board), but I do know they were active in SoFla, and I saw a couple of them around. Mostly ocean side, but there was a Tampa connection, as there almost always is in Florida. The Tampa thing is more of a deferential thing than a business thing, but it's still there. I remember when they first came down.
Some reporter up in NJ was on it. Your link. An Italian reporter in Delray has been on it also.

It's a way to wash money. In the ponzi scheme no one got screwed. Didn't need to, it existed for other reasons. They got stupid, and also got too big and flashy.
Three of these guys have some history. Four if you count the son, but I'm not sure about that. I did a brief search and couldn't locate anything for a link, so you'll need to dig deep. Researchers and everything, so should be easy for some of you. lol.
Anyway, it all seems to trickle down to Pompano eventually. Pompano via Tampa. Basically NYC II.
I was surprised it was only $600MM, I had thought it was much larger.
