Where are these characters now?
Joe McFillin that sounds like such a fake name.

Maybe your right. But I got to check the weather in Iowa from my home in Conn. If I walk outside my house how accurate will that be?

eta, I guess Joe Seaside Rocco was somehow involved also. I think he got pinched making book. A fairly large operation at that time. Right before my time. I got clean in 93, and started booking large in 94, laying off in SoFla / NY. I remember stories about that bust, but that must have been maybe late 80's. Before my time.

Anecdotally it makes sense as Philly is up in Palm Beach. At least that's where Merlino hangs out at the cigar lounge, and that's what I read. Those guys, and the group above, were always too flashy.

That's it, have fun.

Charged recently. Salzano, Grabato, Scutaro and O'Brien. SEC complaint and criminal action against Salzano. $600MM ponzi scheme. Salzano has other issues. His kid was one of the contractors. I don't know what the New Jersey and Philadelphia connection were, outside of what I've read about them dealing with McFillin (some of that on this board), but I do know they were active in SoFla, and I saw a couple of them around. Mostly ocean side, but there was a Tampa connection, as there almost always is in Florida. The Tampa thing is more of a deferential thing than a business thing, but it's still there. I remember when they first came down.

Some reporter up in NJ was on it. Your link. An Italian reporter in Delray has been on it also.

It's a way to wash money. In the ponzi scheme no one got screwed. Didn't need to, it existed for other reasons. They got stupid, and also got too big and flashy.

Three of these guys have some history. Four if you count the son, but I'm not sure about that. I did a brief search and couldn't locate anything for a link, so you'll need to dig deep. Researchers and everything, so should be easy for some of you. lol.

Anyway, it all seems to trickle down to Pompano eventually. Pompano via Tampa. Basically NYC II.

I was surprised it was only $600MM, I had thought it was much larger.

Some guys named are Phil Mcfillin (Philly associate) he was actually in that wiki leaks document regarding Joey Merlino. Joe "seaside Rocco another mob associate they claim.
It claims that "Disney" Mcfillin was kicking up to philly CN as of 2011. And notified the south Florida PD of this.
This is the modern day mob and more lucrative then ever imo. You dnt get to knock someone off to take their rackets. You just call a random old lady to wire you 150k
