The bigger cases over the past decade...
In September 2012, Gambino captain Joseph Giordano was indicted in Manhattan on a charge of grand larceny involving using force and threats to extort $50,000 from a construction company official. In July 2014, in an extension of the original case, 8 people including Gambino soldier Joseph Isgro, Gambino associate Leonard Rapisardi, and Giordano (then deceased), were indicted in Manhattan on charges of conspiracy, gambling, and money laundering involving a multi-million dollar sports bookmaking operation that utilized offshore wirerooms in Costa Rica and a software betting program (Action Sports International) and took in
$2.3 million from bettors in 13 states including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, and California. Previously, in April 2010, Rapisardi had been charged with loan sharking and extortion.
If they dont do credit cards, and they collect in person, in cash, I've always wondered... how do they take bets from outside NY and collect?
