To play devils advocate. Disagree with that. One of them still has to have at minimum some gambling going on no?
Yes.
I have multiple friends in Tampa that use bookies that are related to the old timers in Scotts books. Not 100% of them but still connected forsure
I don't spend a lot of time in Tampa, but when I've been, there are some social clubs and places you can go for card games, illegal slots, video poker, etc. I also know Tampa runs a place in Broward county. Same thing, book, card games and illegal machines. I've been told I've seen him, and I know who he is, but until I started posting on this site, never really paid a lot of attention. I've speculated on who he is based on only a first name, and asked for recent pictures on here. The one well informed gentleman that posts on here is aware of my suspicion, but this isn't 100%. A lot of things aren't 100%, actually really nothing is 100% in all of this. I was formerly pretty hesitant to post stuff like this since a couple on here would jump my shit, but recently I don't really care what those two guys think. I've read their posts and they are clueless about how it really works. They essentially cut and paste newspaper articles and FBI documents. Those things aren't all bad, but anyone can cut and paste. The rubber meets the road about the conclusions drawn from such a narrow set of data. Anyway, if it is who I think it is, he's pretty old, and I have no idea if anyone younger is around. Obviously the runners and those types of people are younger, but what I don't know is what happens when the older Tampa guys are gone. They are either really good at keeping it quiet, or after the older guys are gone, it's done. Done as it regards Tampa, someone from NY isn't going to walk away from that kind of money, they could potentially take it over if Tampa is over, or eventually over. I also just don't come out and ask about things like this for obvious reasons.

I’ve always been interested in guys who come home from jail to a defunct family

Salvatore LoCascio has reportedly left the life and retired in Florida.

John Gotti Jr. would count in my opinion. I don’t think he’s doing anything illegal. He knows he’s a huge trophy for any federal prosecutor with his last name.

Anyone disagree on Junior Gotti?

I'd imagine unless they were actively keeping themselves out of it, they'd have some sort of ear to the street inside and know who to get in touch with when they get home.

One of the more interesting things I remember from D'Arco's book was after he became official Capo, having to formally meet all the crew members, including a 102 year old guy from Canarsie who couldn't leave his home and was presumably inactive for a while. For guys constantly fucking one another over, that seemed like a super respectful move, and a pretty strict rule/process in general. Made me wonder if that was standard across the board, still happens, if other families were doing it, etc.
In Florida in the early 2000s a 91 y old genovese soldier said to a young wiseguys from NYC that he was still ready to kill to the family and after the others respectly answered to "let this to the young men and retire" he said "we never retire".
I laughed even if it's a true story but seems a Sopranos scene.
It's like Capeci describing Mario Gigante as "semi-retired" when he was close to 100.

Have there ever been any made guys leaving of trying to leave the life to go legit? I am not talking about being a member being mostly involved in legitimate or semi legitimate stuff but someone not wanting to live a criminal lifestyle any longer, just being a regular citizen?
