The FBI bugged the visiting room in Terre Haute and used a tape recording between Amuso and DeFede in order to convince a judge to deny DeFede bail

One of their meetings lasted for 3 hours and apparently it is that meeting which they have on tape

Excellent post about DeFede

So Zappola was shelved but was supposed to be the Acting Boss in 2017? I wonder how Amuso would agree with that. In another post, it was mentioned by Mike Spinelli and Joe Glasses that George Conte would be right back into the life after his release which indicates that they must have been taken off the shelf during the 1990s

A few other things I thought were interesting:
- Around October 1993 DeFede was made captain by Amuso and put on a three-man panel to run the family along with Steven Crea and Danny Cutaia
- In April 1994 Amuso appointed DeFede acting boss and Crea acting underboss
- At the same time, DeFede was instructed to demote Anthony Casso, Frank Lastorino, and Anthony Baratta to soldiers
- This was after Casso and Lastorino's plot to kill Bobby Amuso came out
- Louis Daidone was made consigliere around 1996
- The books in NY were closed for a while after Gravano's defection until the mid-90s
- Around 1996 DeFede asked Peter Gotti who the Gambino family recognised as the boss of Philadelphia - Gotti eventually came back and said Nicky Scarfo
- Around 1998 DeFede met with the three-man panel running the Genovese family, he recalled two of the individuals on it at the time were Frank Serpico and Michael Coppola
Third man on panel at this time for Genovese's possibly Quiet Dom Cirillo or Frank Illiano?

There was a bit in there that said Georgie Neck and Georgie Goggles were on the shelf for a while, which is news to me.

Gioia testified: "I was arrested right after [the initial plotting]. Bones [Frank Papagni] was relaying messages to me, telling me that basically all the captains came in. [Zappola and Conte] was shelved [and] they were worried for their lives. And everything came out (about the plot)."

Who is "66" as identifying source? He knows everything it seems
Did you mean to write a different number here? "NY T-66" in this report denoted DE 968-CTE, a confidential informant with the Detroit office. I have no idea who he actually was, but he gave only a little but of intel to the FBI in the 60s, at least from what I've seen. The FBI used him, however, as a source in this report for a number of Detroit member identifications (though it isn't even clear that DE 968 was himself an LCN member, which is a more general issue for the validity of member identifications listed by the FBI in this period, particularly for the non-NYC Families). He isn't cited for anything else in the linked report, so I'm thinking you meant someone else.
You are right.

Awesome. So he had a relative involved with Pittston who cooperated and added further confirmation that Bartolo was a Colombo member and that Stefano had been an underboss. I assume the redacted name is Mineo but we can at least be more confident that Stefano Ferrigno was an underboss as we already suspected.
