Yes it is the same crew. It explains why Gaggi and Demeo were so close to Castellano while he was Boss.

nino's family was very close with paul, that is the only reason paul did not kill nino, he just broke him from captain
Gaggi was definitely close to Castellano, part of the reason why I think he ignored the drug rule in favor of Gaggi/DeMeo over the Eppolito's. But do you think that DeMeo was close to Castellano? I always got the impression from the reads that if it wasn't for Gaggi there would be no DeMeo made in the Gambino's, no matter how much money he brought into the family.
Bronx, you referring to Gaggi not getting killed over the whole DeMeo/car theft ring fiasco? Gaggi was broken down after he was already sentenced, correct?
Another thing I read that I found interesting was how the Ruggiero/Gene Gotti tapes implicated Castellano going to John Gotti to kill DeMeo but either he didn't want to or couldn't because DeMeo had an army of killers behind him. Something about Gotti's 10 to less kills to DeMeo's 38 or so kills--it just indicated that DeMeo was just too dangerous. I also tried to find if DeMeo was recording for the FBI, it seems like he was recording but not necessarily for the FBI, maybe it was for himself? And if he was recording for them, why not take him off the street knowing that the Ruggiero tapes were proof that DeMeo was a goner.
