I think Anastasia has been pretty clear what he thinks about the current state of the familyear and doesn't blow them up at all. In fact, I think he's gone a little too far into "not much left of the Philly mob" territory.
Schwatwieser stalking the same 5 guys all over South Philly LMAO !
"I think he's gone a little too far into "not much left of the Philly mob" territory"
I think what George means here is the traditional territory of South Philly. Allot of folks have moved out to South Jersey and the NY MOB has a good chunk of the gambling in S Jersey. So what he means is as the Philly Mob ventures into the suburbs of SouthJersey they are not he only game in town as far as a Sports Books goes. The Genovese Family & Luchese Family Sports Books have long been established in South Jersey.

Philly has a marginally higher percentage of Italian-Americans in its population; 8.6% to 8%.
Well there you go, still Italian neighborhoods? So that would mean a steady flow of young recruits to fill the ranks. Of course they are also a decade behind New York and will eventually face the same effects as NY

I agree. Philly has shown a remarkable ability to regenerate itself. There is still a lot of LCN activity in Philly-South Jersey and as we have seen they also have a pretty young average age for their members and associates which ensures that generational attrition affects them the least.

I still think they'll be the last family to go outside of New York, in spite of all the violence and general craziness they've gone through.

I agree with cigars the Philly boys are on point. From the looks of they're instagrams and parties they aren't having money problems either.

It seems he's basically saying Mazzone is the acting/street boss. With the official boss (Merlino) in Florida much of the time, that makes sense.

But what's confusing is he says John Ciancaglini is the underboss but then says his dad, Joseph, is "officially the family's No. 2," as well as a "dual consigliere" with Ligambi.

Technically, isn't the underboss (Johnny Chang) the #2 guy? Though one could argue Mazzone, as the acting/street boss, is really the #2 guy under Merlino.

I saw that. What a bunch of horseshit. The Merlino guys saw the word "Labor" and ran the other way. lol

Yeah. According to a recent Anastasia article Ligambi is now the Consiglieri but is semi-retired. I don't know if that was permanent or just him taking it easy after he got out of prison. While he was Acting Boss his official rank was UnderBoss.

It's probably closer to 50 now and each crew probably doesn't consist of approximately 10 members.
