Who are these made guys you come in contact with?
Some you guys write about. Others that you couldn’t even find by googling.
Most are very quiet and very unassuming.
How prevalent is the mafia in bensonhurst these days? Seems like everybody says it's night and day compared to how it used to be.

It’s not like it’s used to be out or out in the open. But it’s definitely here and still a big thing for certain things, businesses and people. It’s also that way in many other neighborhoods around NYC. People and places you wouldn’t expect. My friend would say people aren’t involved in anyway and they don’t realize it’s Even there.
Yea I seem to only hear about heavy activity in Staten Island and Howard Beach so that's why I asked. I know the demographics have changed a ton in Brooklyn.
When I lived in Brooklyn I was in Bensonhurst fairly often. Amidst all of the Chinese, Uzbeks, Mexicans, and Pakistanis, I definitely would see a few guys that were straight from central casting. I don’t know who’s who, of course, so I have no idea if these are just wannabes who like to play the part, but they set the radar off. And I’m not talking about on 18th Av only either, but just randomly around the neighborhood. TBH though, I saw more guys with the look around Bay Ridge than Bensonhurst.

Nicky LaSorsa and Vinny Artuso - Gambino - were very nice guys and did a lot for the community. Morris Levy - Roulette records and Geneovese - was also very charitable to the community.

At Christmas eve 7 fishes, a guy that was in the news a lot 5-7 years ago was across the table from me who i know very well. He was relentlessly making fun of a neighbor of my family who lost his job during COVID. He's like "you'll come work for me, i'll take care of you" I was so happy when Nick looked him right in the eye and said one word: " never" and kept staring at mr gangster. He was captain and I read that he was being considered for a top three position but power changed hands and he now just a soldier i think. and a fuckign scumbag.
What’s his name?

Has a few made men in my extended family. All dead 20+years now. As a kid these guys were larger than life. Real nice guys at family functions whatever. But as I hot older you hear and realize things. My grandfather took a loan from his sister's husband a made Columbo guy. He was just another victim for the rest of his life. Paying vig. Like he wasnt family. Or godfather to the made guys kid. So it's a weird thing.

It's a quote from Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlett Letter" that was featured in the Sopranos episode "College", as a slogan inscribed in Bowdoin College that Tony sees after killing Febby Petrulio.

One thing about us wiseguys, the hustle never ends.
