Yes he is, but I had never heard of him outside of Silvermans book. But I googled him and found a facebook page about Rennells house in Tewskbury burning down.

Here is an interview that Mark Silverman did about Bulger and the film Black Mass. He claims that Joe McDonald who was a feared guy in the Winter Hill organization was his boss and that Bulger told the FBI about Joe McDonald.

As someone from that area, from that era, I can tell you with 100% certainty that he is completely full of shit. There are a million bullshit stories that he tells but one of my favorites is that he was called to a meeting at the Purple Shamrock by Spucky Spagnolo and blew him off. Spucky has no clue who this guy is and never met anyone at the Purple Shamrock. Back in those days, Spucky wasn't hard to find. He was in one of two places (3 if you count jail) and people came to him.

I spoke to him a few weeks ago via email. He still lives in the Boston area.

i read his book and think most was bullshit

He claimed he was made into the Patrairca family by Frank Salemme in the 1990s.
