That book is popular,Ive never read it myself.Is Raab THE authority on the mafia?

I did see Raab once in a interview saying how much of a lovely man Rubin Hurricane Carter was when he died.He clearly didn't do enough research there

He’s as much of an authority as a Capeci, Anastasia, Stratweiser, Gene Mustain, and a lot more who cover LCN.

In Five Families by Sewlyn Raab, he clearly says Lucky actually did nothing to help the war efforts. And what he did tell them , they already knew and were planning on using.

I found it in a used book store and read it a few months ago, from what I recall he goes over the deal, I think he got moved to a prison with a warden who would play ball initially and then as the war went on and ended, worked out his release and where he was allowed to live. Not being able to return to America bothered him for rest of his life.

I believe John Dickie’s book Cosa Nostra talks about Luciano and the myths that he helped out Sicily during the war effort, but I forget the details. I read that book like 8-9 years ago.

You have to excuse me since im currently not in a position to open any youtube vid (im coming back home tomorrow), although the doc im talking about was called "How the US reistated the Sicilian mafia" and it had several parts.. you probably posted the same doc but I remember that those guys mentioned Lanza, Luciano and a bunch of Sicilian guys from those days who were involved in the whole operation

The one i posted above maybe the one your thinking of,That has original investigators but even they dont know or wont really say what went on

It was part of 'Operation Underworld'. Luciano recommended Lanza to the Office of Naval Intelligence. Lanza gave ONI undercover agents union cards. The agents infiltrated the Fulton Fish Market looking for nazi spies and nazi sympathisers.
