yep sammy did then the defense tore him to threads and the feds stoped using sammy as a witness. they brought up how he killed all his own friends and he was a diagnosed nutcase.

Yeah, Sammy did testify against him. Spoke to his mental state, I believe. About how when he interacted with Chin, he was clearly in control and the robe thing was just an act.

Yes he was. I've saw an old grainy video of the feds witing up Savino before a meeting I believe.

First, their 'groups' both met more than once to discuss the state of affairs in the city and to discuss the windows business, which the Luccheses had a instrumental part of making happen (way beyond just elbowing their way into an already existing racket). Didn't the Lucchese have the union that made the entire thing possible?
Without the Lucchese family and their near total control of local 580 there is no windows scam.
It was originally a Genovese operation and they had to bring in the Luccheses because of Local 580. Then later the Gambinos and Colombos got involved as well.
My point still stands. The Lucchese family controlled the Union that did the installations. If they wanted to they could have stuck it up Chins ass and shut the whole thing down.

That was Casso.

The story does seem far fetched. Its from a good article though on the state of the mob in 90s, its the same article that claims the Genovese inducted around 30 members in the early 90s after not inducting many in the 80s.

I've read that Chin threatening Amuso at a wake thing too, but I don't believe it one bit. It doesn't make sense at all.

If Chin was going to dish out warnings, why do it in passing at somebody's wake, instead of the private meetings that you've had about the same very topic. On top of that - The Chin doesn't seem like the type of guy to dish out an overt threat right to the face of a sitting boss, and Amuso definitely doesn't seem like the type of guy who'd let himself be afraid of anybody, Chin or not. He's a boss for christs sake, and a pretty treacherous one with at least like a dozen shooters behind him. He's not taking shit from anybody and someone like Chin wouldn't expect him to.

I believe the quote from Amuso more, saying about the Chin - "that asshole should kill himself now" when they found out that Savino flipped.

According to Gravano, there was a commission meeting in 1989 where Gotti mentioned to Chin that the Genovese family had about 40 vacancies in their family. Perhaps they weren't making many people during the 80s and/or took a lot of longer vetting guys than other families.

At the 1986 wake for a Genovese soldier, Gigante pulled "Little Vic" Amuso aside to discuss the Lucchese family's encroachment on the Genovese family's then-lucrative window-replacement business. According to sources, Gigante told Amuso he would be "lucky to leave this wake alive." Amuso, a stone killer in his own right, left trembling. "The Luccheses backed off after that," a source said.
None of that sounds plausible to me. Chin at a wake in 1986? Questionable. Threatening the life of Vic who had just become a Boss? Probably not. Amuso left trembling!?! Definitely not.

What's the source for this?
Its from a 90s NY magazine article.
