For me it is Albert Anastasia.
His murder led to the Apalachin meeting and we all know what a disaster that turned out to be and the long term ramifications it had for LCN.
It also led to Carlo Gambino becoming a Boss. Gambino of course was one of the main drivers of the Profsci-Gallo War and the Bannana War in the 1960s. Both of those conflicts severally damaged and destabilized the Colombo and Bonanno families which they never really recovered from and which had their own long lasting ramifications.
Gambino was also the driving force in NY keeping their books closed for as long as they did. That of course weakened the families and led to future problems in the types of people who rose to leadership positions in the 1980s like Gotti, Amuso, Casso, Gravano, Massino, etc and the problems they caused.
