That story was public record long before Dom and Hootie surfaced online to tell stories. It was a part of Dom's testimony against Basciano and a part of his debriefing. IIRC, PJ Piscotti even talked about it during his debriefing (I might have that confused though)

On Dominick’s orders, Ace struck Eric with a hammer which sent him to the hospital. While hospitalized, the crew sent him flowers with a note attached stating, “We still want our money.”
