I checked my notes from that episode and for that specific anecdote Luisi wasn't talking about himself. He was talking about how he was in prison in Arizona with Ray Ruggiero and Ruggiero told him that. It was Ruggiero who was instructed to take the Florida business from Bruno.
That was one of the more informative parts of the story imho...when he and arilotta mentioned ray ruggiero. As we all know Ray flipped.

The only interesting thing about him is that (I think) he hails from the North End which has to be the most interesting Italian enclave the country ever had...feels almost like an old european city within a city. I’d find the average guy talking about what it was like back in the day in the north end more interesting than Luisi’s separate family tall tales.

also, Pennisi and Tom put Hootie on the pay no mind list, but openly promote the fact that you can pay for a one on one session with Luisi?
I think that's exactly what rubs me wrong about the alite show, everyone is a boss once they rat. I don't really mind the shameless self promotion bullshit, a man's gotta eat, but still. If you want to rat, rat. But all these guys are bullshit artists who weren't paid enough attention when they were kids. The interview with ruggiano jr was pathetic. I don't see how these guys live with it. Ratting and going into WP i guess i can understand, but going on another rat's podcast to glamorize the same life you ran from? Andy ruggiano's first words were literally along the lines of "Im andy ruggiano jr and my dad was a mafia boss with the gambinos". Makes you wonder if he actually introduces himself like that everywhere. Despite the fact I like these stories, these guys are the last we should be getting "the truth" from.

Luisi is a bum. Tried to do the preacher for cash thing didnt work out so hes back to selling lies. Him and anthony arillota interview is a weird thing. You can see anthony doesn't know what the fuck luisi is saying. Just flat out lying and anthony just nods his head like yaeh I remember that. Luisi like the guys in nyc told me to take some of bruno's rackets in florida after he got whacked that's crazy... plus it was in 2003 luisi flipped in 99. Lol

Luisi is probably the biggest liar of all the rats out there right now trying to gain notoriety on YouTube , he acts like he knew Borgesi and Merlino for years kicking up to them when reality is he knew them for like 10 months and then flipped on them quicker than a whore in a hot tub .

I’ll also bet my left nut that Vetere was the main money maker in that crew while he stood up, took his pinch, and did his time like a man. That wasn’t Vetere’s first dope pinch either so he could have gotten really serious time, but he stood up.

You have to give credit where credit is due.

Luisi is the biggest fraud of all the rats out there currently running their mouths behind computers on YouTube in my opinion.

I’m with Trump, they should outlaw flipping.

I mean how could a jury even begin to believe a word out of someone like Luisi when a person’s freedom is on the line?

Luisi cooperated and got cold feet so he "went crazy"...whatever he says now is revisionist history.

Anyone know if Luisi’s background is Pugliese? Luisi is typically a Pugliese surname, and it seems like Boston has had several Pugliese wiseguys. There was a made guy in Chicago named Salvatore Luisi/Lusi (“Sam Louis”) who belonged directly to Paul Ricca and he was born in Troia, Foggia.

Bobby Luisi just continually studders ya know ya know ya know. His episodes on the Gardner Museum art robberies were so pointless. Any criminal remotely accused of involvement has been put thru a ringer and most lie detector tests, he told the FBI long ago that he knew nothing despite knowing 2 of the main suspects Guarante and Gentile. Now he's doing a 2 hour episode pretending like he knew something about it, up there with Franzese saying he knew where Hoffa went and Alite saying he knew Paul was gonna be hit. Absolute turd

They want to rehash stories and tell them because it is their way of vicariously living through their past glory days and yes some people want to hear these stories given they are truthful. I hate when they say "in the end its for the kids"...Total bull since no fucking kids watch that shit. I never liked Luisi and his story seems so suspect.
exactly. i want to know what type of kids they think they are reaching? kids in the 13-17 age range, the prime impressionable age they are allegedly trying to reach, aren’t loading up a Luisi sitdown or checking for an Alite war story when they load up YouTube. I would almost bet money kids that age think these guys are old and boring, and would rather flirt with eachother on snapchat or watch some asshole dancing on tik tok, not hear about Alite robbing some guy for a couple ounces of coke on Jamaica Ave back in 1987

Joey Merlino really deserves the Frank Scalise treatment.

Do people actually pay money for a "one on one session" with Luisi? Jesus Christ. I thought Franzese's "crew" was bad enough but this takes the cake.

Luisi said his deal came apart because of problems he was having with a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston. Instead, he went to trial. Previte was a key witness against him. Luisi was convicted and ultimately sentenced to 188 months in prison.

“I never liked Ronnie and Ronnie never liked me,” he said. “But today I’d like to thank him. He saved my life.”

Previte, in a phone interview on Monday, said he never disliked Luisi but thought he was too easily manipulated by Merlino and Borgesi.

“I didn’t dislike him, but I thought he was foolish and being used by them,” the onetime wiseguy said.

Luisi didn’t see it that way. He said he sought out the Philadelphia mob in the 1990s because of conflicts he was having with the Boston-based mob family with which he was associated.

At first, he said, he tried to align with the Gambino crime family in New York. But he said Peter Gotti, who was running the family for his jailed brother John at the time, said, “We don’t need any more friends.”

Luisi said he then used an associate who had spent time in jail with Philadelphia mob leader Ralph Natale to arrange a meeting in Philadelphia. Luisi said he first met with Natale at The Pub, a popular bar-restaurant in Pennsauken. He subsequently met with Borgesi and a crew of mob associates at a dinner in Delaware County and then met with Merlino at Gino’s Café, a South Philadelphia corner bar that the mob controlled at the time.

Those meetings led to an affiliation and Luisi’s formal initiation into the Philadelphia crime family. He became a capo with his own crew in Boston. By his estimation, he was generating tens of thousands of dollars a month through gambling, loansharking and drug dealing.

“When I went to jail, I had a million dollars on the street,” Luisi said of the various mob gambits in which he was involved. The feds would later allege that Luisi was sending $10,000 a month to Merlino as tribute and that, in effect, he bought his way into the organization.

“With Joey it was always pride and ego and money,” Luisi said.

Luisi said his goal at the time was to develop his own organization and eventually split off from Philadelphia.
