What about say, the average Genovese soldier?
Hootie talked about pulling up to a job site to collect a no show check once and when he got there he said he saw a Genovese captain in work boots covered in cement. Then someone schooled him that the Westside has a ton of guys, soldiers and captains, that get up and go to work everyday.
He said he was almost embarrassed because he was just an associate, and he pulled to the job site in a new car with a brand new tracksuit and brand new sneakers. And there was a Westside captain busting his prick in a hard hat.
Doesn’t surprise me. When you think about it a lot of the west side guys actually work, even if it’s construction/union involved to where they are obviously using their position in organized crime to benefit. But there’s alsoA good amount of them that own restaurants and whatever else. It’s a smart move because in reality you need legit taxable income on paper if you ever want to do anything. I’ve seen it firsthand having duffle bags full of cash won’t get you as far as havingProof of legitimate income and at 800 credit score... I used to know someone who had tons of cash , but 0 credit history and 0 taxable income.. and he used to have to find people who had both, and he would have to pay them a lot of extra money every month for co-signing on car leases that he wanted...
one time he came to me asking if I knew anyone, he was trying to lease a grand new m5 bmw... and he was willing to hand the co-signer over the payments for the 24 month lease in ful.. plus an extra 500$ a month for co-signing for him ...

Yep, and that’s if, a big if, the guy was putting any $ away into savings for a rainy day.. I’ve seen guys making easy $45,000 a month of straight cash... for years... and when shit hit the fan I think he had like $1,300 to his name.. insane.. the problem with guys making good illegal money is they think it’s never, never, going to ever come to an end... so they just spend it as soon as it comes in thinking it’s not a big deal cause they’ll get it again in a week... even in operation head with the luccheses... they got Joey perna on a wire saying how he made like sometging craxy like $60,000 in the previous 10 days and was saying all of it was gone... all to bills trying to keep up that image...

But you’re right,. I mean even if you got let’s say $500,000 buried or hidden, that the feds won’t immediately freeze if it’s in bank accounts, or if they find it in cash form in your house when they raid your ass... but let’s just say you had access to $500,000 when you get federally indicted... once you pay for a top tier legal team, and then you’re off the streets and have 0$ coming in now, and let’s say you left a wife and kid... how many months will that $250,000 (after lawyer fees) last making mortgage, utilities, property tax, car payments, insurance, registration, food, gas.... it’s crazy to think but that would be gone in 1 year tops...
pretty eye opening when you break it down... coming back out every time starting for scratch...

It’s tough to say for anyone, but the Genovese would be the last group of guys we could pin down with a number for this.

Hate to bring Barney into this, but lets use him. Nice, but not too ostentatious home in one of the nicest areas in the entire State. Probably could be considered a mansion by some standards. Plus, a place in Florida. Meanwhile his former alleged Number 2 man, -DiChiara, was living in a 3 bedroom apartment for a little over $900/month in a building where all of the units are government subsidized.

Chris Chierico (sp) had places on Staten Island, Brooklyn, and a $10,000/month luxury rental in Manhattan - while another Solider, Carmine Russo, supposedly lived with his mother up until her death in an old 6 floor walk-up in the Chinatown section of Mulberry Street. When he wasnt planning robberies, was buying plastic bags wholesale and selling them to customers at the Fulton Fish Market every morning

Pennisi was probably spitballing and theres no way to really know, but he said that as acting underboss, Patrick DelloRusso was making $30k a month.

I’m spitballing too but I would guess for the regular guy who has to piece a bunch of things together to get by, who doesn’t have a decent, consistent long term racket...but someone who’s coming up with ways to get money every month and maybe is lucky enough to have flipped a score into 5-6 loan customers...it wouldn’t surprise me if guys like that make up at least half of the known membership and are taking in like $2500/week on average.

What i want to know is if there are any true “parasite” guys out there, able to live on leeching, Not score-to-score, different ideas monthly type of guys like I described above...or guys with real hustles (sports, legit biz, drugs, whatever)... but guys who may have done a few people or business owners a favor way in the past, and now they are solely living off of the “tribute” money or tax from that. Guys who strictly live off of soft extortion, basically. Thats gotta be the lowest form of a made guy there is, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it were actually common.

They dont have salaries so it’s kind of hard to say. You are made for one reason or another into a family to either be useful to them, for protection and most times both. The member uses the family as a sort of “pool” or “network” to draw from, which is where the schemes are put into play and businesses are started.

Actually, I think it was to hold power in the area you live in. These guys were defacto politicians at one time, inside Italian enclaves.

It cant be money, look at the Campos crew. They made "allegedly" 6 or 7 hundred million. Yet hes scheming to fix up his house. Arrilottas interview was eye opening. A guy like Hootie lost his parents at 13, he became a product of his environment.

I was kinda baffled when Arrilotta just asked his Dad for a 100k to buy his way out of a loan debt. I'm like, he couldnt have taken the 100k and opened a business in the 1st place? All he talks about is legit business being the endgame. His motivation confuses me.

Some are motivated like an Arrilotta, some are like Pennisi.

But The Canadians are nuts...... look at what they took, ( and had to give back) from the Figliomenis. I for get how many Ferraris, reflexes and all the money, the houses....

It's always seemed to me that the point of being a mobster is not to get rich; the point of being a mobster is to be able to live a very comfortable middle or upper-middle class lifestyle without having to do a 9 to 5 job (though a fair few really do get rich).

I would say close to middle class.. some for sure upper middle class... it all depends honestly... I’m sure they’re is some guys who can hardly pay their mortgage on a totally basic house and are driving around a Honda Civic... a lot of the Philly guys seem upper middle class.. a lot of them live in packer park and drive new bmws, infinites, etc...

Then you got guys like Ronnie g.. multi, multi millionaire, went way overboard on his house remodel and I’m sure had all sorts of brand new cars... he for sure should have just moved to a “richer” neighborhood that already had homes like that, instead of building one in thst neighborhood that was 10x the size of any other house...
Then you got a guy like Frank cali... where he could have 10x the amount of Money Ronnie g has, but I don’t think he lived overboard.. his house in Staten Island was nice, but nothing crazy.. and he was driving a Cadillac Escalade.. expensive car.. but again, nothing head turning...

You have to consider also that even if some of these guys have the cash to be driving ferraris and living in mansions, it’s probably not the best idea when it comes to trying to not draw law enforcement scrutiny...

I feel like the Montreal guys up there with Vito didn’t give a fuck and really put their wealth out there.. when there was that time period where they all lived in the same neighborhood that got labeled “mafia row”.:. Those homes were pretty fucking extravagant... Vito got an armored S class Mercedes when he got home... lorenzo Giordano had a Ferrari as a “weekend car”..: there’s the wire tips of del balso calling a friend car dealer to order like 2 fully armored SUV’s.. he didn’t want anything fancy he said.. said he wanted more low key like Toyota 4 runners and wanted them in dark colors.....

So I guess it’s kind of like the same as looking at how any other people in a profession live.. like lawyers for example .. some live in huge house and drive crazy exotic cars, others have nice homes and drive a standard Benz or bmw, then you got some who live in an apartment and are driving a Toyota Camry... all depends...

More or less middle class seems to be the general status. A minority on both ends of the spectrum are rich or brokesters. On the whole, there isn't the same level of money there was in the mob's heyday.

Are made guys living great like the old days. Or are they living less fruitful? I would guess most have a nice home, and a shore house and a few luxury cars? Is that the standard?
