I dont know, I assume they thought they could beat the case, I know they did not know about the second security system, but even then that video was blurry and dark, and you could not see faces. Vinny was identified on his size and they way he walked, Mark was convicted on his x wifes testimony I think they thought there would be enough in the video to have reasonable doubt.

Mike Balano became an informant to get out of a felon in possession and assault with a deadly weapon case where he shot at someone at his pawnshop. I seem to remember an unindicted conspirators but I dont remember who. He is also believed to be the 3rd person the night of the fire and testified under immunity.
why they would go to trial instead of a plea? Govt not offering deal(s)? I remember the ATF being involved and heard of Balanos getting in trouble with IRS before-i dont know if they are related or rumor and inuendo.

Tommy's ;ast name is Sorrentino not Sciortino, they are pronounced differently Sorrentino is pronounced Sore Tino, Sciotino is pronounced Sir Tino. Tommy is related to Mark Sorrentino who was convicted along with Vinnie Piscotta in the Hereford arson fire.I am not being a smart ass you would be surprised how many people confuse that. Tom Sciortino is running the Donut shop on Vivian rd.
I served in the military with a friend who was from there and said he grew up around that area. Now if he tells me Sciortino, is that a common mistake or if he doesnt know hes probably bullshiting about other things to?
You have Sciortino as in John Sciortino and you have Sorrentino as in Mark and Tommy. There is also a Tom Sciortino. Two different last names
different people.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know anything about the early history of the KC Family? There's some confusion over its early history.
whats your question I will see if I can answer it for you.
I'm just interested in history. For example, I have this for the bosses of Kansas City as far back as I can go:

Paolo DiGiovanni (1910s-1929)
Nick Gentile (acting boss? 1922-1925)
John Lazia (1929-1934)
Charles Carollo (1934-1939)
Charles Binaggio (1939-1950)
- Underboss: Charles Gargotta (k. 1950)
Anthony Gizzo (1950-1953)
Nick Civella (1953-1983)
- Underboss: Thomas Simone (d 1968)
- Underboss: Carl "Tuffy" De Luna
- Consigliere?: Joseph Filardo
Carl Civella (1983-1984)
Willie Cammisano Sr. (1984-1995)
Tony Civella (1995-2006)

So my questions are: Is this correct? Am I missing anything? How far back does Kansas City go? Thanks

Yes I am still playing catch up since I was away. Sorry if its been repeated and for it not being hot off the press news for you mob experts. Question for you though, had you even heard of him. Feel free to ignore my posts boss, I am not dancing this dance with you everytime I post.
I have never heard of him until now and only questioned it because I was unsure if they waited this long to post his obit for some reason.
Since I am still on supervised release I dont see people like I used to. I ran into someone who knew about this and they made me aware of it. I had not seen anything on the boards so I posted it. I was not trying to be a dick. John was a guy who was respected from the top down, he may not look like a tough guy be he was as tough as they come and he was very good at the work. He was very close to Ragusa "rags" and they often worked together.
