I believe it was "Englise."
Wasnt Inglesia or something like that?
I believe that it was originally Inglese, though “Inglesia” and “Inglisa” also appear in the records.

I have Charles Carmen English born as Calogero Inglese 1914 in Chicago to Giuseppe Inglese and Carmela Mastrosimone, both of Santa Caterina Villarmosa, Caltanissetta. Salvatore “Sam” Inglese was born 1912 in Chicago.

Incidentally, Chuckie Nicoletti’s parents were also from Santa Caterina Villarmosa.
Thanks bud.

SolarSolano wrote: Thu Apr 15, 2021 11:37 am I was just curious if they still had family in the area. I always saw Chuckie English as being bad with money who went broke a lot. Him being hit in the mid 1980s from my view was a classic case of a brokester being shunned in Ferriola's new Outfit.
Another potential factor that may have led to Chuckie getting knocked down was narcotics. My understanding was that he was supplying the Huron and Hoyne Latin Kings before his death. This section was founded in the ‘80s by the Salas brothers, who had defected from the C-Notes. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s the HH LKs and the C-Notes fought a bloody war over this defection and control of the attendant drug territory.

Given Grand Ave’s close association to the C-Notes, it may be important that Chuckie was backing their primary rivals and competitors.

I wrote about the English/Vydra situation back in 2014 in my AZ Mob article but i never knew that Vydra was an informant.
There isn't an Outfit member or associate that you haven't written about! :) You're da man when it comes to Chicago.

B, Antiliar, thanks!

There is a big information gap in the MF files between mid-1963 and Vydra's death in 1964 so there is still much we don't know about his relationship with the English brothers.
Back in the days i used to have one old and quite large report on the "AZ mob", which i think was made by reporters in cooperation with the feds but it seems that i either dont have it anymore or i cant find it...

There were several Outfit made guys in AZ by the 70s...

....in addition, im not sure if i came across the name Leonard Russo while reading Ed's text, but he was also involved in AZ together with Joe English.

Theres also one rumor that Bonanno allegedly refused to cut in the English bros in some of his operations and usually ignored them and Giancana and Accardo allegedly saw this as a disrespect.
