Vincent Basciano's legit places (though funded through illegal gains), personal home, and properties were mostly seized.
Did they take his house on Schurz Ave? Is that why his wife divorced him to avoid getting caught up with the forfeitures?
that house was actually kinda awesome. Super low key in the grand scheme of things but on a micro NYC level ,you can tell whoever lived there had some money. I believe it was two row houses combined, with one spanning the corner, garage, pool, etc. - all of these little things that are the norm elsewhere but are absolute luxuries in NY. He almost had a little suburban set up without having to leave the neighborhood. There was a rumor that he had all of those trees cut down across the street to get a good view of the sound, as well .
The Basciano book by the same guy who did the Massino book (mostly came together through arrest records, Cicale testimony, Massino testimony, and other court docs) had Basciano living in Scarsdale before he was 30 I believe - seems like he was always making money even back to his early days. I know he had money on the street, tied up in investments and other projects, etc. - plus the government taking everything - but its crazy to think they got stripped of literally everything to the point where his kids had to sell a couple pounds of pot each week to get by. The skeptic in me thinks that family has money buried away somewhere
