I think you may be right about Westchester - went through one of the recent articles again and Capeci said he's based in Armonk.
Yeah I didn't remember him being with Queens guys, He was always Bronx and Westchester NJ Conn etc..Seems like those guys up there are running the show these days ,The feds are all over them up there
I think a clarification needs to be made though. According to Capeci, Filipelli lives in Armonk. Apparently that's why he labeled him an "Armonk-based skipper."

Except I don't think where a captain lives is necessarily the most accurate criteria to determine where his crew is based. More appropriate, in my opinion, is where the majority of their activity is. Not that he isn't active in Westchester but he seems to be just as active in New York City proper, with all the construction and what not. Armonk is pretty far up there and I don't think the bulk of his crew's activity is that far north.
funzi sisca is a bronx jersey guy. what queens crew did he run?

I used too take out knock down loans all the time...borrow 1k pay back $100 a wk for 13 wks. I would do this around Christmas time or go on vacation, now if you miss a week it becomes a straight juice loan depending on your relationship with your guy. My friends would put their entire vacation on credit cards and get banged out all year long trying to pay it back.

newera_212 wrote: Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:35 pm Its crazy to see how much of LCN revolves around loans. Like there are entire crews that just sustain by borrowing money off of one another in a hierarchy at varying interest and loaning it to the public. Or one guy (capo?) acting as a bank and loaning to soliders who loan to whoever else. IIRC this was happening at an admin level too in the Bonannos with Joe C loaning to Capos. Loans come up a lot in Pennisi's talks and even Hootie said Al T built a big loan book from scratch

Not saying I'm a street guy or anything like that but i know a lot of knuckleheads and ppl into dumb shit, plus an assortment of other types like small biz owners, bar owners, etc pretty well and i don't know anybody that's personally taken out a shylock loan. It's wild to me how prevalent and prolific it is but still seems like a hidden, underground type of thing. Before some of the recent indictments (Giallanzo, Amato) and stories by podcast rats I was ignorantly thinking that shylocking had quieted down and wasn't as big - only to find out its looking like its bigger than ever

Anyone on here ever personally do a shylock loan or know somebody who has?
an owner of a very large mechanical company no longer in business had shy loans at the end to keep afloat. legal bridge loans are a racket in itself and he had a few of them. when you cant get those anymore, a lot of those sme companies are operated or under someone who then steps in with a street loan. thia was his situation. i know of a few people who got businesses started through juice loans, a restaraunt and a deli. street guys but legit,

Queens

More NJ and Westchester County but I know what you're going to say, the FBI is infallible, capaci is god, etc
His 2005 bust as a soldier involved extortion of construction companies in Westchester and Long Island, as well as a trucking company in New Jersey. But the crew, once headed by Funzi Mosca has traditionally been based in Queens (but also had operations in Jersey). That may or may not have changed since then. He does seem to be involved in the construction rackets in the greater NY area.
Edit: Sorry, I meant Sisca, not Mosca.
newera_212 wrote: Fri Mar 12, 2021 1:09 pm Where in Queens? Typical OZP / HB Gambino 'territory' or based elsewhere? I know there was a little Gambino presence in Ridgewood/Glendale up through Vernace's "reign" and prior to that, some presence in Astoria way back in the day. Just curious as to where these guys are at and especially, how many Queens based Gambino crews there are. Are there more than 2 Queens Gambino crews?
That's a good question. Pinning down current crews in their current form is hard enough. Also pinning down where they're based and active is an additional challenge.

As I said, Filippelli took over for Sisca, who was Queens based. I don't know if he's still a captain but Thomas Cacciopoli was Queens based. Thomas Sassano took over the Trucchio crew, which was Queens based. The Corozzo crew seems to be both Queens and Brooklyn. Mastrangelo may have been a break off from the Corozzo crew and is partly based there.

Obviously it would be a lot easier if we had up to date info of the current captains/crews.

Danny Pagano is a good example of the difficulty of saying where a crew is based. The crew originally stemmed from the Greenwhich Village crew (Canterino) in Manhattan if you want to go way back. They were also active in the Bronx when Joseph Pagano was captain. Also in New Jersey with the gas tax scam in the 1980's/1990's. From around that time, and up until recently, the most presence seems to be in Westchester and Rockland counties.
Acquista is queens based to i think, could be 4 or 5 crews for the Gambino's in queens
