Interesting filippelli is described as a powerful captain, where is his crew based?
Queens
Wiseguy youre like a walking wikipedia page
More NJ and Westchester County but I know what you're going to say, the FBI is infallible, capaci is god, etc
His 2005 bust as a soldier involved extortion of construction companies in Westchester and Long Island, as well as a trucking company in New Jersey. But the crew, once headed by Funzi Mosca has traditionally been based in Queens (but also had operations in Jersey). That may or may not have changed since then. He does seem to be involved in the construction rackets in the greater NY area.
Edit: Sorry, I meant Sisca, not Mosca.

Where in Queens? Typical OZP / HB Gambino 'territory' or based elsewhere? I know there was a little Gambino presence in Ridgewood/Glendale up through Vernace's "reign" and prior to that, some presence in Astoria way back in the day. Just curious as to where these guys are at and especially, how many Queens based Gambino crews there are. Are there more than 2 Queens Gambino crews?
That's a good question. Pinning down current crews in their current form is hard enough. Also pinning down where they're based and active is an additional challenge.
As I said, Filippelli took over for Sisca, who was Queens based. I don't know if he's still a captain but Thomas Cacciopoli was Queens based. Thomas Sassano took over the Trucchio crew, which was Queens based. The Corozzo crew seems to be both Queens and Brooklyn. Mastrangelo may have been a break off from the Corozzo crew and is partly based there.
Obviously it would be a lot easier if we had up to date info of the current captains/crews.
Danny Pagano is a good example of the difficulty of saying where a crew is based. The crew originally stemmed from the Greenwhich Village crew (Canterino) in Manhattan if you want to go way back. They were also active in the Bronx when Joseph Pagano was captain. Also in New Jersey with the gas tax scam in the 1980's/1990's. From around that time, and up until recently, the most presence seems to be in Westchester and Rockland counties.
