Re: Johnny sideburns could be in trouble

Pennisi had his 20-something year old daughter on the MBA and Button Man show last night. She just talked about growing up with a Dad in prison (they talk about her being conceived on a conjugal visit lolol). She talked about a bunch of wiseguys showing up at her birthday parties and graduation parties, etc. But she was oblivious for the most part.

She told a funny story about writing a paper in high school about her dad coming home from prison and how emotional it was for her and her brother. She said her teacher passed it around to other teachers and the administrators because it was so well written.
Then a few weeks later Pennisi’s daughter had an “altercation” with another student at school, and she called John. When the principal and vice principal realized she called her father to come to the school (the same father from her essay, that just did a 20 year bid) they freaked out and called the cops. Pennisi said when he got the school they had the whole precinct in the parking lot waiting on him. They were terrified he was coming up there to crack heads.

He says he’s still in the neighborhood several days a week and is cool with a bunch of wiseguys, so it sounds like one of those things where he didn’t get anyone sent up, but he broke a rule that’s an automatic expulsion from the life. I don’t think he’s in danger of getting clipped or even roughed up, but no one is gonna mess with him, especially considering he was a big drug dealer.
The fact that He’s running around with gene and has a podcast talking about active guys. It baffles me how he isn’t made an example out of. Especially since he isn’t a federal informant.

It's interesting because the crowd and the Q & A's seem a lot more focused and specific compared to the shit I can imagine someone like Franzese or Johnny/Gene getting.
How do you submit questions?

LaVecchia should have skipped the Kabala question.

I like the co-host Tom LaVecchia. Way more knowledgeable about the rules, protocol, and history of the mafia than any other interviewer I've seen. Knows how to ask Pennisi the right questions and clarify his answers. Can't imagine asking for anything beyond that.

I was glad to see Pennisi say he didn't know Frank Cali. Would have been an easy way to connect himself to a big name from this era, i.e. "Yeah, I knew Frank. Low-key guy, a gentleman." Speaks to his credit that he didn't take the easy opportunity.

It's also nice hearing shit that's not from the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s anymore. Being more current, that's one of the things I like about it. It is one of the best reference points for news relating to LCN after 2010. Pennisi also doesn't come off like a complete ass like Borrello or Alite.
Agreed. I'm enjoying it too.
What I appreciate about Pennisi is his painstaking efforts to not talk “out of school”. If his co-host asks him about something and he doesn’t know the answer, he doesn’t make one up. He just says “I’m not sure on that. I can tell you what I was told, but I don’t know for certain...”

I don’t expect these guys to know every freaking detail about every wiseguy in mob history. It’s refreshing when one of them says “you know I didn’t really run around with that crew, I couldn’t tell ya”. They come off as more credible when they do that.
Yep compared to the other frauds who insert themselves into every story and attach themselves to the big names.
