I've seen this a few times on the internet. The story goes that he was a shooter in a hit on a guy who had harassed a made man's wife, and while blowing the guy away Scarfo shouted "I love killing people!". We had a thread on this five years ago (I would know, I started it ) and apparently there's no evidence that this actually happened.

dont know it verbatim, and I forget who he was talking about... I think it was a North Jersey guy, but after a making ceremony the solider he just made said something stupid and he turned to Phil Lenoetti dumbfounded and “where the fuck do we find these guys?”

another one I barely remember was him ordering a hit, but specifically demanding it was done “cowboy style” in broad daylight

They were close. Joey father Salvatore was Scarfo's best friend so Merlino groups around Scarfo. The two families had a falling out in 1986 and they have hated each other ever since.
