I believe Joe Bonnano was considered a Prince, maybe like Machiavelli, from Sicily. It wasn’t accepted by the Bobby Kennedys or Northern Italians like Rudy Guillianis of the world, same type of people that hung all the innocent Sicilians in New Orleans, he became a Knight of Malta 🇲🇹 in 2002ish.

After settling in North America some of them became members of the Montreal group. I'd say they are absolutely positively mob royalty.
If they became fully part of the Montreal Mafia, in my opinion it's only After 1998 and the fall of the Caruana brothers. Agostino is often describe as the representant of the clan in Montreal.

Personaly I doubt that a guy like Joe Caruana (Giovanni's son) was part of the Rizzuto. But maybe I'm wrong.
I didn’t mean to imply that they all became part of the Montreal group that’s why I said some of them and by that I meant guys like Pancho Cuntrera. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who is with what group when they are so closely aligned maybe I’m wrong about Pancho.
No problemo I didn't want to sound rude. Yes, I confirm that the line between the two groups is very thin. A guy like Emanuele Ragusa or even Antonino Zambito who was from Cattolica Eraclea, for example, worked with the C-C's. Without even talking about Nicolo who was during the 70's in Venezuela with the Cuntreras

Who is Mob Royalty?

by Ozgoz » Tue Dec 15, 2020 1:07 pm

Many years ago on the forums when Jilly pretended he was related to Johnny Papalia I remember another poster, upon realising who (he thought) he was talking to said “I cannot believe I’m in the presence of mob royalty.”

We know this expression is used, but who exactly is mob royalty?

First we must define it. I would suggest someone must meet the following criteria..

1. They must have multigenerational representation in the mafia. For example a Luciano or an Accardo for me are not mob royalty. Their family were not criminals nor were their offspring (if Luciano had any).

By the same token, the Gotti’s have multigenerational representation but for me they don’t go far back in time enough, I would almost consider them ‘new money.’

2. They would have connections back to Italy. Having relatives in the old country I think adds to respect and prestige in the mob.

3. Someone in their bloodline must have been a boss of some family.

4. Intermarriage of bloodlines, especially if the above criteria has been met.

The obvious examples of course would be the Gambino-Inzirello clan.

I would also go with Bonanno-Maggadino-Bonventre.

The Cuntrera-Caruana I’m not so sure - have they been sitting bosses? Acting Montreal aside. Although most impressively Cuntrera-Caruana actually I have just found out is programmed into the autocorrect on an iPhone!
