Thanks Bruno - think about it - that's a dangerous game someone is playing then - inferring the guy is in WITSEC.

Unfortunately I can't shed any light on that one. I know Joe was away a couple of times and never ratted or was even suspected of being an informant, so it's not from an association with Fratianno in that regard. I know that some people have mistaken DePalma for Gambino in that pic as they kinda resemble each other there, but I can't say for sure. Sorry.

Thank you again Bruno for that info. About the group pic - do you know why Joe Gambino is blurred out in some? I understand why Fratianno is but never understood why Jo is and in some others - he's not.

He got made late 70's just before his uncle Joe went away the first time for the garbage/waste management thing in Bronx-Westchester. The club is long gone. Over 15 years probably now. It's now a laundromat and is right underneath a big city owned building at 2340 Belmont Avenue.

That's the wrong Salvatore Spatola. The one you are talking about was from Brooklyn and was peripherally involved in Pizza Connection and heroin. The Salvatore from the pic lived in the Bronx and had a few ganbling/video poker things and did some shylocking in addition to having the club/cafe on Crescent Avenue. Believe me when I tell you, the guy from the pic was an "under-achiever" and never even got pinched, nevermind a senate subcommittee investigation.

Salvatore Spatola DOB 2/11/1932 from the US senate subcommittee investigating OC in 1988.

Just found out he's 74. Born in 1946.

No way Sal is 89. There are a ton of Spatolas running around both here and Palermo. Joe would be about 90-91 today if he was alive, Sal was probably about 10 years younger or more. Probably got the wrong Sal.

Spatola is 88. Turns 89 in 3 months.

He is 88 years old so probably inactive at this point.

When his uncle passed he went back to Sicily for a while as it was probably a lot safer and less BS to deal with in regard to the Albanians who were looking to take over all the Gambino places. I've heard he has since come back and is living in Westchester, but how active he is is pretty debatable.

Anyone know whatever happened to Salvatore Spatola who's in the pic? Someone said he was a bronx guy?
