Re: Gambino 1980 Hierarchy

Robert Grillo and the Torregrossas were members of Aurello's crew.

Joseph Delmonico was with Gaggi's crew.

Louis 'Red' Giardina was a member of Traina's crew. Another member with this crew by the early 1960s was Pietro Giallombardo. If still alive, he would have probably with this crew.

Joseph Corrao was not a Capodecina. He and his brother August reported to Paul Castellano.

Peter Castellano / Castellana was with Paul Gambino's crew. Strong likelihood that John Riccobono took over that crew, so you can add Castellana to suspected Riccobono crew.

Frank Bucheano (ph) was with Dongarra's (now Gagliardi) crew by 1963. He might have been deceased by 1980.

Leonardo Grillo was with Zappi.

Gaetano Russo had at least 7 daughters so between that and his generic last name it's going to be hard to nail down which son-in-law it might be referring to unless it's someone we already know.

The MF reference was because there was a file where twenty two captains were listed (exact same 22 as the santantonio report) and even included "Frank Diago" (butchered reference to Dave Amodeo) so 99% chance those 22 on MF were from this report. I mentioned that so there wouldn' tbe confusion over why Gaetano Russo doesn't fit the name (Don Russo is one of the 22 on MF), additionally the redacted name was also active in Bklyn.

There were a couple of Joseph Russos who were made, the redacted name fits "Joe Russo" but I'm not sure he is the person referenced here.

In the 1960s Freddy Santantonio said Domenico Arcuri's son-in-law was a made member under him and Michael DiLeonardo was also told the Francos went back in the Family before the ones we know.

Arcuri's other son-in-law was Frank Ginex (Ginexi) who despite his strange name had heritage in Santo Stefano Quisquina and had lived in Tampa along with NYC like the Arcuris and Francos. It's more likely that Salvatore Franco Sr. was who Santantonio was referring to though.
Are you sure Santantonio meant Arcuri, just wondering, because in the FBI report it appears that the capo who Santantonio said had a son in law under him was Gaetano Russo (#14 in the report, with 9 made men)

In the report, the captains' names are more toward the left, while the guys named under him were "in the middle" ish of the page. In a MF file an informant named a "Don Russo" as a capo, the informant is 99% santantonio, so the name above the son-in-law info is probably tom russo, aka Gaetano Russo.
I was referring to this but now that you mention it, it does look like a short redacted captain name is in between:

Based on what DiLeonardo said I do believe Salvatore Franco Sr. is a probable member (for other reasons too) but in this case the report does seem to refer to someone else. Thanks for pointing that out.

Any idea who Tom Russo's son-in-law was?

HairyKnuckles wrote: Thu Nov 18, 2021 7:59 am Btw, it doesn´t appear all the Moscas were in same crew. Ralph Mosca (for example) was under Frank Rizzo who headed a crew later taken over by (probably) Nicholas Melillo. All East Harlem Gambino guys were under Rizzo or Napolitano. Melillo was originally from East Harlem.
Question, has anyone ever tried to correct the 1963 chart w added names and attempted to divide the soldiers into crews? Is such a thing possible? I ask because there's overlap with 1980 names.

Currently me and another forum member are trying to divide the soldiers into crews. It seems that most members can be crewed up and we have some guys listed as suspected in some crews.

This is John Riccobono and Gaetano's son Joe Russo:

Angelo, JD found two names that perhaps should be listed on this chart.

- Joseph Russo; active in Queens, co owner of Villa Russo, died in 1986

- Joseph Cosmo Russo; son of Gaetano Russo, was confirmed made after his death in 1991, member of John Riccobono´s/Frank DeCicco´s/George DeCicco´s crew.

No info if these two were made by 1980, but you could put an asterix in front of their names.

Half of the names came from LCNBios, the other half from Nasabeak (#2, #5, #6, #8)

Peter 'Petey Bull' Baratta (1910) was under Frank 'Wops' Gagliardi (Thanks to Nasabeak).
Sorry if was this answered elsewhere, but did Frankie Loc and Wahoo Mancuso end up with their own separate crews?
I believe after Joe Zingaro went away in 1986 Frankie Loc took over, and by the 1990s Aniello Mancuso became official or acting capo. I think I've seen source somewhere say that Loc took over for Mascia but I don't believe Mascia was a capo.

The 1940 census did manage to catch an infant Nicholas "Corrozzo" on East 22nd born to a Salvatore (born NYC) and Rose (born in Indian Territory, Oklahoma of Italian descent). Salvatore's father Nunziato Corozzo is from Barcellona, Sicily.

It's a match but I can't confirm I found the right infant Corozzo and given he's a higher profile guy, perhaps someone may know more. I found a Joseph born 1 Oct 1941 in Brooklyn but his name is Joseph R. Corozzo Jr., which would scrap the above Salvatore as the potential father.

I think one of the Biondos came from Barcellona which is in Messina.
Was just looking through some old posts and this might answer the mystery from a report Felice saw:
felice wrote: Thu May 26, 2016 9:38 am I was reading an italian document from some years ago, there are several mentions on a tape to a made guy within the Gambino's they call "Il Messinese" who seems to be very powerful and gets last word on several matters. Messinese is an adjective to mean he is from Messina. I really didn't know who he could be until I could read another part that made me suspect that "Il Messinese" could be John D'Amico
We know from the Stefanelli tapes that the Corozzos were working with John Gambino as the top powers in the Family circa the period Felice is referring to, so with their family likely coming from Messina it could well be one of them. Be interesting if the Sicilian faction referred to them by their heritage given they're fully American.

Jack D'Amico's family was from Palermo so definitely not him.
I missed this great catch when you posted it and I suspect you could be right. The Barcellona family is very strong in Sicily.
