For some reason this made me think of when deciccos son got shot.. for being a moron and not leaving things be, he got shot and got his dad in a bunch of shit and heard he was basically given the opportunity to “step down” which I heard was a nice way of putting someone of his stature and respect level on the shelf.

This is what I always thought.. everyone was claiming it was a sanctioned hit by the gambinos and I just could never wrap my head around them getting some ransom Hispanic to do the shooting, and then went into hiding cause he was probably scared shitless of retribution and arrest..

In April 10 1995, Giordano was shot and severely wounded in an ambush that investigators say may have stemmed from one of the rare times he angered fellow Mafiosi. One theory was that he was marked for assassination because someone believed he had withheld money from a loan-sharking racket. It was also believed that with John Gotti in prison, there was a lot of internal strife within the family and Giordano was targeted because of his loyalty to Gotti and to his son John A. "Junior" Gotti. The attempt was a message to the ruling hierarchy of the family to remove John Gotti Jr. from the acting-boss position and appoint a new successor. He became paralyzed from the waist down.

Death

In 2009 Handsome Jack died at the age of 68.

He can’t be
As a made member, you could still manage your rackets from a wheelchair. It's rare for a captain to get their hands dirty, and even a soldier could rely on associates to handle their heavy work—as most of them probably do anyway.

Looks like he kept his Official Capo rank but I don't know how involved he actually was after the shooting.

The shooting must’ve been ok’d by the Gambino’s administration at the time, unless it was unsanctioned.

Looks like it was over a loansharking debt.

A man was charged Saturday with gunning down a member of the Gambino crime family outside a hospital in a $50,000 contract killing ordered to settle a loan-sharking dispute.

Ernesto Rodriguez, 59, was arrested Friday night while hiding in a house, said Capt. John Hill, Manhattan chief of detectives.

Rodriguez was charged with attempted murder and assault in the April 11 shooting of “Handsome” Jack Giordano, a reputed captain in the Gambino family.

A bullet severed Giordano’s spinal cord and he is paralyzed from the neck down.

Another mobster ordered the hit because Giordano, 49, was pressing him for repayment of a loan, Hill said. “They were trying to get Jack off their back.”

Was the 1995 attempted murder of Gambino capo Jack Giordano ever confirmed to be mob related?
