He said it was some kind of test, to see if he was hardcore enough to sit there and eat as they dismembered a corpse. Gimme a fuckin break here, guy. Even just reading through the lines of Murder Machine you can see he's full of shit. Dominick runs away to California with no money, but Gaggi "makes up a lie" that Dominick actually stole a bunch of his shylock money he was supposed to collect. Really? Nino just made that up did he?

I also vaguely seem to remember some controversy over his service record. Didn't some Vietnam veterans group complain to Capeci over Montiglio's claims?
He claimed to be a Green Beret, and I guess someone (maybe Capeci) reached out to a group of former Green Berets who served in Vietnam and none of them had ever heard of him. Since he cooperated his service record is sealed and there's no way to prove or disprove his claims of serving in Special Forces, but they're a very small community and the fact that none of those SF veterans had heard of him is pretty telling.
Thanks, I guess I was remembering it a little backwards. I thought that I recalled that some veteran's group was kind of pissed at Capeci for just printing Montiglio's claims but I guess I'm mixing it up with someone else.

I haven't read Murder Machine in quite a while but I seem to remember he presented his supposed service in Vietnam like something from a movie. Body parts of little kids being blown everywhere, "Uncle Ben" watching his back, complete with a Vietnam flashback years later when he drops acid. I think that anything Montiglio says about anything should be taken with a whole truckload of salt.

I've also found Montiglio's story about Vincent Governara being blown across the street and landing on top of a movie theater very suspect; a real hand grenade probably wouldn't have enough force to throw a grown man that far, and I think in one of his interviews he says that it was a percussion grenade, which definitely wouldn't have enough force to do it.

So, you boys are from Arkansas, huh? Well, I've been through there. Little Rock's a fine town.

Was it Demeo's son who was selling (supposedly) Roy's stuff on ebay years ago?

Last year he sent Soliai a picture of his uncle's corpse which turned out to be Chuckie English of Chicago, Soliai asked what gives and got no response.

DeMeo's son wrote a book: For the Sins of My Father, which countered alot of Capeci's claims from Murder Machine. I never read it myself but could be worth checking out to see someone else's perspective.
Demeo's son's book is a great book because it really hammers home the effect the lives these guys live has on their families. He suffered from post traumatic stress syndrome for his entire childhood. Great stories about the Gemini Twins too.

Demeo's son's book is definitely worth the few bucks. I read that first then MM, and I think both are two of the best books out there on the mob (especially if you're interested in the Gambinos and particular the Demeo crew). His son does offer up a "rose colored glasses" take on his father's life but nonetheless is very interesting and informative.

It's a good book, there's one passage where DeMeo comes off as VERY Tony Soprano-ish with some pet frogs, lol
It was released during the height of the Sopranos, hard for the show's influence not to rub off.

I remember I read somewhere that he said that the MM book left a lot of juicy stories out, I wanna know those juicy stories or info but as I watched the first 25 minutes of that video on YT with TheMobReel and he said, Carlo took me under his wing... I just told myself I’m 98% sure this guy is going to change stories around to make himself look better & hide the fact that he didn’t have the capacity to become a made guy & was only used as a loan collector, messenger by his uncle Nino.
He has said that he and his uncle had a falling out because Paul Castellano wanted to induct him, but his uncle wouldn't allow it to happen.

Always go with the first book. Why do you think they write these additional books?
