That’s one of the reasons I hated The Irishman movie: No way someone like Hoffa could put his hands on a captain like Tony Pro with no consequences.
That did happen. And there were consequences.
He did that in real life? Hard to know what was true since so much of that movie was bullshit.
Sheeran's isn't the only account that has this story. Pretty much everyone that's written about Hoffa attested to this. Not sure if it's any informant's files to corroborate or not but the claim is not Sheeran's solely, that's for sure. Tony Pro was the actual president of that local in Jersey. He did tv interviews. He wanted people to think he was legit. It's not hard to believe he'd shun one of the very antiquated rules of the mob for the sake of business.

Alphonse Trucchio punched Bobby Glasses Vernace during an argument in prison & got shelved because of it.

Supposedly Anthony Nicodemo in Philly wacked a guy for disrespecting him at a card game. I think it’s a case by case basis.

Matthew Madonna was old as hell, I doubt those Same rules apply today.

So you're a soldier and you kill the UB because he laid hands on you, and everything's cool? Right

I know Paulie Gaulino of the Bath Ave crew, who was an associate, was killed for shoving capo Anthony Spero during an argument.

And Joe Pistone once said when a made guy hit him he just had to take it, he couldn’t stand up for himself. But any associate under that made guy was fair game for Pistone to put his hands on. I think the made guy he was referring to was Mirra.

Umm what?

When Frank “Chestnut” Marasa of the Bath Ave Boys murdered Awjab “OJ” Ennab of the Bay Parkway Boys, Thomas Gioeli instructed Dino Calabro and Co. to murder Marasa first, before initiating a sit-down about it with Anthony Spero.

Jimmy Hoffa was no run of the mill associate.

That’s also a small hole in the plot of one of the first episodes of the Sopranos. Tony beats the shit out of Mikey Palmice, a made guy, and no one says anything. Then in the third season he punches Ralphie, another made guy, and it’s a big huge thing for like 3 episodes.
Also Tony beaten up Phil Leotardo, and in real life even the Decav boss shouldn't beat a trusted NY wiseguys without retaliation.I think that if an associate would try to beat a made man would be whacked but if a made man beat another made man maybe can be a sitdown for avoid deaths.

Bent Finger Lou hired someone to at first kill Marty Angelina and then he switched it to beating Marty up badly enough to put him in the hospital. Bent Finger Lou was actually charged for this by Philly DA. Marty was also beat up at strip club by 10th and O guys pretty badly and Uncle Joe just made the 10th and O guys apologize to Marty. There’s two examples right there with Marty.
