That NYPD chart had a number of mistakes but visually is very impressive. Some of the mistakes make sense from an outsider POV (i.e. NYPD, who didn't have the inside sources the FBI had), where they relied more on association and proximity (neighborhood) to fill in details. Joe Scopo for example frequently hung out with the Bergin crew and was loansharking partners with Gene Gotti. His son appears to be a current Gambino soldier today. Other mistakes are likely from similar associations.

It's also a good example of why we can't completely trust early sources that lump guys together based solely on association / proximity. If the NYPD in the 1980s was capable of making some of these mistakes, you can imagine what a mess the pre-1960s were.

That chart looks highly suspect. Rampino never was made. Bowatt is a Lucchese guy. The only Scopo's I know of are Colombo guys.
They also have "Joe G" or Giuseppe Gambino, the one from Seaford, listed as a Capo. He lost his stripes when he went inside in the late 70's and got out early 80's. While it lists John as Boss, that pic is def not from 85. I wonder if the source of that chart was FBI or NYPD or even a news organization who had less interest in getting it right.

I don't think he was made. He was a junkie from what I remember.

Gambino/Chart era question

Would there be a Gambino era chart that could be made that
1) the crews can be broken down
2) enough photos.

I'm thinking anything 1970 to 2000 would work. I posted a screenshot the Gambinos (under Gotti) on a pinboard that I got from a documentary. I can't locate it because the search functioned is forever fucked.Anyone have that on hand? It was focused on the admin and the camera zoomed down, I kept ss it and then combined them to put the chart together. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Or we could do the D'Amico crew, never focused on one crew before.
