DNA and other technology proved it, some people did over 20 years before proving themselves not guilty. The documentary At the Death House Door really challenged the way I thought about capital punishment. For most of my life I was all for it but once you realize how often innocent people have been executed, it’s hard to justify.

It’s not liberal propaganda but whatever. Prison reform is actually pretty popular across the American political spectrum. Conservatives, progressives, and libertarians largely agree on a lot of this stuff. The prison industrial complex is a just really powerful special interest group.
