Ohio and Pennsylvania seems like the Mecca of illegal gambling ! They go Hard and never stop
The Gambling industry in general prior to the pandemic was starting to really boom in Pennsylvania. They’re all independent establishments too, there are of course some that are franchises like Hard Rock Cafe, etc. But prior to the pandemic, I would be going to Penn once or twice a month to visit family with my wife and every time we go a new casino/hotel is being propped up some where.
Think the mob is still making the kind of money now to be running casinos like they were in Vegas in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s? I don’t personally see why not, tons of opportunities in these kinds of places where gambling was formerly illegal at one point, other than native tribes with Indian gaming rights. But these please would present a newly established market, that upon legalization would be cheap to get into. Similar to how in some states when marijuana became legal, investment into the industry was cheap and extremely profitable but now it’s inflated so to become established would cost more, as I’m sure gambling in places like Penn have, or will soon become. So I think it’s something they easily could have gotten into “legally” when the industry was still young in these places, and could definitely be away to regain some of that power and influence that eroded over the years.
