Martomarano is based in LA, but goes to Vegas when he has to. There is still a handful of made guys that operate in and around LV, and a lot of the big names that keep being repeated on other threads and sites are retired members.

i know, but too much praise for one poster gets repetitive after a while sir!

anyway, i just get the impression that there are very few middle of the road opening in the las vegas underworld at this point. you have the low level street gangs content to sell $10 bags of meth( huge out there btw) for a few months before ending up in prison and then the very high level, politically connected elite who are hooked into things at a level simply out of reach for wiseguys at this point. las vegas seems more than happy to profit off it's mob influenced past, but i doubt they'd be all that happy to have something in the present exposed. i've never been all that much into mob related books, but i did pick this one up a few years ago at the airport there and i found it to be quite a good read, lots of stuff on the fertitta's as well...

As I pointed out on the GBB, while he was living in Vegas and claimed he had "planted a flag" there, everything in the recent indictment was in Jersey.

lots of real shitty, gang infested dumps out there, i guess whatever street gang has the best high level drug connect has the most street clout for whatever that's even worth. high end, low risk escort services and all the party favors that go along with them seems to be where the real money is made, who knows who the top dogs are in that area though, probably a mixed bag of sumbags.
It's me who has talked about the mob's bookmaking operations still extending out west. Some of the bookmaking busts that extended to Nevada, Arizona, and/or California include March 2003 (Conforti, Cirillo), December 2004 (the Gatto bust), January 2005 (the Uvari bust), March 2008 (DiPiero), October 2009 (Fafone, etc), April 2010 (Baselice, Cicalo, etc), April 2012 (Pinnacle Sports bust involving Basciano, etc).

Comparatively speaking, the last case involving the mob and escorts in Las Vegas was in the late 1990's.

You got that right FF on "oversaturated". I flew out there last year on my way to Denver, and shit once you get off the plane into the gate there are video machines staring you in the face already.

so much of the vice is sewn up so tight i just don't see an area besides loansharking and escorts where any lcn guys could get their feet wet. the video poker machines that these guys seem to thrive on out east are everywhere out there, supermarkets, gas stations ect, totally oversaturated. perhaps guys are able to install machines that are able to skirt what i'm sure are very strict regulations, but it seems like selling sand at the beach to be honest. people have said for a while now that the east coast families sports books still reach out west, but again with the ease of legal gambling anything other than some small local rings seem unlikely.

As I posted on the GBB, in 2003 the Las Vegas Sun reported there were around a dozen members left living in Vegas. No doubt less now.

Leonard Falzone of Buffalo moved out here recently, but I don't think he's doing anything. He seems to be retired.
