My mother was born/grew up in Glasgow. She used to tell me stories about another character by the name of Jimmy Boyle. If you were from there, you knew about him. He was a gangster in the Glasgow underworld in the 1960s. Turned his life around after a prison sentence for murder. Minor celebrity for a while.
