I believe an old article on gangland serves up different names. It also may be an old article that was not gangland but related to Galante hit. Read it nearly twenty years ago so details are scarce.

Supposedly Russell Mauro was the hitter that took out Galante’s eye in the fatal murder. It would be interesting to know who the shooters were, and who the drivers of the getaway were.

And Trinchera (if he was indeed the masked gunman who stayed inside the restaurant) ended up blasting a 17 year old kid, the son of the owner of the restaurant. The kid survived thankfully.

I believe the three masked men were Bruno Indelicato, Russel Mauro & Dom Trinchera. Dom kept the patrons and staff at bay while Bruno and Russel were the main shooters. Santo Giordano drove the getaway car.

Police found shell casings behind the fence where Bonventre was sitting. Its circumstantial for sure, which is probably why they got away, but its not hard to believe he was a shooter at least.

Amato and Bonaventure were called suspects as soon as the shooting was announced but as I said, they were always said to have set him up, not been part of the showing team. And since they said it so soon, and never proved it or arrested them for it, they may have just ducked when the shooters started shooting at Galante. If anyone has information from a case or an informer like Massino saying it was so It would be interesting to see.

Bonventre and Amato were almost certainly shooters. Witnesses all said there were three masked gunmen, but police found bullets from five different guns. Given that the killers shot Turano and Coppola as well, its hard to imagine they would let Bonventre and Amato live.
The story was that they were sitting with Galante and ducked under the table, when did they get named as shooters?
The feds and investigators suspected them from the beginning, there were five guns used in the shooting and only three masked gunmen. I'm not sure if Massino or any CW's have confirmed it but I believe they were shooters.

In the Sixth Family it mentioned that about a month before the murder, FBI witnessed Bonventre and Amato meeting with George Sciascia and some other guys (I think Giordano was one of them?) in a parking lot, they saw them move some stuff between the cars and they thought they saw a shotgun change hands. There were 3 cars I think and they all took off, 2 got away but they caught Baldo and Cesare with handguns, ammo, ski masks and shit like that. They were actually out on bail when the Galante hit happened, and it was speculated that the shotty that they were handling that day may have been used to blast Lilo. So that would add Sciascia as part of the conspiracy as well. That guy seemed to be right in the thick of things in that era.
