I think it has more to do with not being able to get away with it. They would be killing a lot more if they could. Murder rates are down big across the nation since the 90s so it’s not just an Italian trend IMO

You kill a rat and that is a direct fuck you to the American government. The mob isn't soft per say now, they are just wiser to the times. If Anything were to happen to a rat or their families it would be game over for everyone, and as long as they are making money they happy. And yeah, his daughter and all the ones on T.V. are a disgrace to themselves and their families, they are pretty much making their own brand base off of the murderers that their family members are, especially the rat ones.
