Thanks guys for the info. Just like these wise guys to open a club along the lines of the VFW or Eagles and call it The Catholic War Veterans Club which is really a strip joint.

Anyone know if this guy is associated with Philly?

DOMINIC VERDI, a former deputy commissioner with the city's Department of Licenses & Inspections, sat by himself at the end of a wooden bench in the gallery of a federal courtroom yesterday. Mostly bald and heavyset, he appeared down in the dumps. Verdi, 59, dressed in a black short-sleeved shirt and tan pants, stood before U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth T. Hey moments later and pleaded "not guilty" to conspiracy, extortion and honest-services-fraud charges in a superseding indictment returned by a grand jury earlier this month. The superseding indictment - which replaces an indictment filed last year - accuses him of more acts of extortion.

Initial story and indictment

Former L&I Official Dominic Verdi Charged With Extortion By Feds. The writing has been on the wall for a long, long time for former L&I Deputy Commissioner Dominic Verdi, who resigned way back in February 2011 amid an FBI investigation into his activities. That multi-year investigation has now resulted in charges, with United States Attorney Zane David Memeger announcing on Tuesday that Verdi has been charged with extortion. According to an indictment (below) filed in the case, Verdi used his power to get Philadelphia bars and restaurants to buy from a beer distributor he co-owned in South Philadelphia. Buy your beer from Verdi’s company, and you’d get special treatment from L&I, the theory goes. Verdi also allegedly lied to the city’s Inspector General when asked if he had any ownership interest in the beer distributor.
